I could not find an NHL thread so here is mine:

My favorite player, Todd Bertuzzi is still out, and I wonder if he can ever regain his old form. Vancouver's West Coast Express is sorely missed.

My favorite teams right now are Detroit, Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Calgary . I miss last year's Anaheim with S. Niedermayer and Selanne. Toronto and Montreal are exciting teams too and fun to watch on Hockey Night In Canada.

Fans I felt sorry for: Philadelphia
Fans I still feel sorry for: Edmonton (those guys deserve much better).

My favorite players: Bertuzzi, Crosby, Zetterberg, Sakic, Thornton, Lecavalier, Briere, Iginla, Turco, Luongo, Giguere....

Most exciting game I've seen this season: Carolina beating Vancouver 3-1 Oct 22/07. Carolina outshot Vancouver 16-6 in the first period

Looking forward to: Toronto @ Montreal this coming Saturday.

While I applaud the idea of an NHL thread, I already know we're not going to get along. See, I'm a Colorado Avalanche fan, and well, I hope Bertuzzi never regains his old form.

Obviously, my favorite player is Joe Sakic. I'm also partial to Vinny Lecavalier and Martin Biron. I'm loving all these kids that seem to be coming up all at once, especially Paul Stastny and Jonathan Toews. Can't wait to see Colorado and Pittsburgh this Thursday. Should be all out offence.

Neverbenormal: I don't think we will have too many problems getting along when it comes to Bertuzzi.

Bert was the guy who made me a hockey fan. Several years ago he was arguably the best power forward. He had talented hands and made some really pretty plays. He was the play maker for Naslund and I can recall one game when three Detroit players were on him trying to get the puck when he made a great pass in front to Naslund and he scored. Bert scored himself as well, usually by parking in front of the net (similar to Holmstrom nowadays). However, he was most popular in Vancouver for his amazing and crushing hits. In summary, the guy did it all.

Of course, as time passed his game deteriorated, and we were left with a guy who spent too much time in penalty box, took stupid penalties, swore at the referees, and couldn't score the way he used to.

The incidence in Colorado was simply the worst of Bertuzzi as the fans knew him. And I can not imagine anyone hating him as much as the media in the Vancouver did. You can not imagine the incessant coverage of this incidence.

I can not explain exactly who was to blame most. What if Moore had gotten up after the sucker-punch? What if everybody had not piled up on him? What if nearly the whole Canucks organization had not sworn revenge after Moore had knocked Naslund unconscious few weeks ago?

Bertuzzi was certainly to blame as he sucker punched Moore, but did he mean to hurt him that much? I don't think so. But it was frightening how one incident gave some people in Vancouver reason enough to compare him to murderers and much worse. There were many other factors as I mentioned, and Bertuzzi had never sucker punched anyone like that before. Yet, people prefer to blame the person and ignore situational factors.

In summary, when I refer to Bert, I refer to the disciplined and talented guy from several years back, not the hate-filled Bert who hurt Moore.

I can see it from Colorado fan perspectives too. I bet I would have disliked him very much too. But I was a fan long ago.

Hope that explains it a bit:)

Turco was amazing against Vancouver last year's playoff. In game seven, he was the only guy who showed up, and proved to everyone that he could be great during the regular season AND playoffs!

Great nice logo!

Buffalo is up to a so-so start (5-5-0 in last 10 games). They lost both Daniel Briere and Chris Drury from last year's dream team. Then again, as long as they've got Miller and Pominville, there's hope for great things in future.

3-6-1 in the last 10 games...and what's up with Shanahan? The guy has probably more shots on goal than anyone else yet can't score. Somehow I feel he doesn't belong in that line up. NYR have been a disappointment for a few years now. They have great guys out there (Jagr's 50+ goal season, remember?) but something is missing.

Edit: Just checked Shanahan's shots on goal. He's got 63 SOG but only 2 goals. That's scoring 1 goal for every 30 shots! Compare that to, say, Comrie of NYI (5 goals out of 18 SOG: scoring a goal for every 5 shots or so).
