Quote: You guys all make good points. It is a compliment in some twisted way, but without being acknowledged you're still getting ripped off. This is a drastic suggestion but does anyone think it would cut down the use of the sweeping programs if we made it so that you have to be logged in to view the forums? Maybe not the main page or category pages, but the actual posts. Again it's extreme and I prefer an open forum as I'm sure everyone else does, I just wonder if it would help.
That suggestion more than anything else would help, I'm sure. I imagine one of the reasons they steal the imagecodes from this site so frequently is because a login isn't required to view the forums here.
That's true, but on the other hand, the only way to steal the image codes if not logged in is to click on each pic and go to the imagehost site to get the codes. If you're not logged in, you can't click the <Quote> button to copy the codes. (Unless there is software that will scan the post and grab the codes, which I don't see any way to prevent.)
That's a good point. I had not thought of that.
What do you think all those picture downloading programs we all use (like GalleryGrabber, etc.) do? They read the HTML and parse out the links.

I'll admit I don't know that much about it, but I thought all they did was suss out the direct links to the picture to allow it to be downloaded. Is that the same (or similar enough) as actually copying the UBBC code to be reposted on a different forum?

The "Disable see more box on post" controls the top See More Box, the "Disable autoload on bottom page" option controls the bottom see more box.
Be sure to hit the Submit button afterwards.
This will also stop Bulk Image Downloader from loading the "See More" posts.

If anything its easier. Instead of having to actually follow the link once parsed all it has to do is write them to file.

DTravel, apologies if you have already mentioned this in this thread, but do you still make your picture posts so that the images are in the first reply? Is that method still effective?

It is no longer effective so I don't do it anymore.

And, since DT doesn't do it anymore, I don't either!

I promise, I will only use your faith in me and blind devotion to following me where ever I lead to accumulate more glory and personal power for myself in my quest for world domination.
