Folks keep saying "No Scripts," but I believe some are not understanding what this means. It means turn "JavaScript" OFF. When you get a warning for JS/virus, the JS typically stands for JavaScript. If you say you've turned JS off and those warnings still appear, then you either haven't effectively turned JS off or something is running from your temp int folder that shouldn't be.

Add these 3 extensions to Firefox and work out how to configure them and you will kill 95% of all ads on the net.

Actually, "NoScripts" is an extension to Firefox that automatically turns off all JavaScripts for all webpages. You have to manually allow scripts for each domain you visit in order for Java to run on that website. However, "NoScripts" still blocks ex-ternal scripts (such as advertisements coming from a different domain), thus protecting your machine from infection by 'bad' ads.
A "hosts" file can provide the same protection when running IE.

I left my computer on the SuperiorPics today for about 10 minutes while I went to get a bite to eat. When I came back, a file called WinSpyware 2006 was installing itself on my computer. I'm highly pissed because my computer is now slower than slow. I've never had a problem with this site before.
Saying "turn off java scripts" is not a good solutions. The right solution is simply to ban ImageVenue because it's the source of the problem. That's what CelebUtopia did and it makes sense.
I contacted ImageVenue about it and they said, "We didn't realize that. We'll loook into it." Then they wrote back and said they had banned the advertisers, but of course they were lying. Nothing changed. Same malignant ads are still there.
There are plenty of other good free image hosting services out there. Why not just ban them like CelebUtopia did. It'd be doing the users here a service.
It doesn't matter to me because I use a mass downloader and I have the ad sites blocked anyway, but before I had them blocked, I got hit and infected (through my anti-virus software) by Virtumundo and Vundo trojans from ImageVenue...
Anyway, just my $0.02

Banning an image host is NOT a good solution. The solution is for all users to learn how to protect their own computers from infection. Should every image host be banned, because at any moment they might start pushing virus-infected ads? Wouldn't that be silly? We are trying to help users deal with the ads that are present on not only this forum and its imagehosts, but EVERY website they visit. It's very simple to protect one'sself from outside infection from embedded ads. If using Firefox, get the AdBlock Plus extension, and the NoScript extension. If using IE, go to www.someonewhocares.org/hosts, and follow the directions to install the hosts file on your machine. What's so freaking tough about that? It not only eliminates all ads and problems from ads on this forum, but on every website you'll ever visit! It's so simple anyone can do it. If anyone has a problem doing this, please ask here, someone will take you through it step-by-step.
