Downloads from ShareAvenue are no problem for me. But sometimes it's annoying that you can't see the real filename when the cursor is on the thumbnail. But until now there is now perfect image host.

The only thing I hate about shareavenue is the way seymourhersh has been using them lately. Alot of the pictures within a set have the same filename, making it a hassle to manually change the file names. Hence everyone getting "Image exists, Do you want to replace it" warnings.
Sorry Seymour, you're a great poster but that is frustrating.

thank you for your feature request and the link to the forum page where this feature was discussed.
We now have implemented an option for registered users to choose between getting the original filenames or having an unique id added in front of the filename.
Look for "Automatically make filenames for images you download unique." under My Account
The choice is saved in a cookie, so you can log out from shareavenue.com and the choice is still remembered as long as you allow cookies from *.shareavenue.com

I had no problems with the download, but I don't like such double filenames too.

Kind Regards, ShareAvenue.com Support
If that had been for pictures registered users upload, that would have been great. But they are requiring people to register to download pics with the correct file names.
Where did you get that from? As I understand the email (and a quick check confirms this) they still continue to give out the original file names for unregistered users to download.
They have just added a feature where registered users have the choice to either keep the original filename or get unique file names for all images they view (either their own uploads, uploads from other registered users or uploads from unregistered users), if they want to.
I asked them to clarify the handling of filenames and the new feature and this is what I got.
Quote: Dear Peter,
I have spoken with the developers and the filenames you get without the new feature are 100% unmodified from the upload. That means that shareavenue never ever changes and never has changed a filename; not from registered nor from anonymous uploads.
The new feature gives registered accounts a choice. They can either keep everything the way it was, which is also the way unregistered accounts see the images, or they can get a unique but constant number in front of every filename they download (not upload!).
So if you happen to visit 10 random images on shareavenue that are unfortunately all named image.jpg and you want to save them in a single folder, the new feature saves you the hassle of renaming 9 files. The files would become for example: 123_image.jpg, 321_image.jpg, 234_image.jpg...
But a different user (registered with the feature turned off or anonymous) still gets 10 files named image.jpg.
