Ana Matronic (born Ana Lynch on 14 August 1974) is the female vocalist of the Scissor Sisters.
Prior to moving to New York, Ana lived in San Francisco, where she performed at the drag club Trannyshack and was the first female to reach the finals of the Miss Trannyshack pageant. It was her experience at Trannyshack that inspired her to start the club Knockoff, intended as a knockoff version of Trannyshack.
She joined Scissor Sisters, founded by Jake Shears and Babydaddy, after they played their first live gig at a cabaret night called Knockoff which she founded and hosted at The Slipper Room on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She has stated that in her eyes, the objective of the band is about people displaying their fantasies on the outside, trying to break out of the everyday, and look like their dreams. In the fan community for the Scissor Sisters, those fans who hold a special affinity for Ana are known as nuns.
Her stage name is a homage to her love of The Bionic Woman and imagery of robots (as in Audio-Animatronics). Indeed, her arm is tattooed with a robotic interior. Other influences on her include Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.
In 2005, she featured on the New Order song and single Jetstream. The single was taken from the band's album Waiting for the Sirens' Call.
