Open your firewall. In my case it's Norton Internet Security.

For NIS users go here: Open Norton Internet Security>Personal Firewall>Configure>Networking>Restricted

Add this adress by using the "Individually" Form :

us.intellitxt.com

No "www" or "http://". Just us.intellitxt.com.

Screenshot:

That will get rid of the "autolinks". I currently trying to get rid of the "AdBrite" banner, I'll be back with more information on how soon.

Edit: This worked for me, don't really know why though.

Only for Firefox.

Open a new tab or window. In the adress bar write

about:config

and press Enter.

Do not play around with any other settings thanthe ones I will show you now;

Find the javascript.options.script and the javascript.options.ShowInConsole values. You can highlight any value in the list and press "J" to find them more quickly and easier.
Double click them. The text should become bold and be set to the value True, instead of False.

I don't know if you have to make both of them "True", but I did and I don't want to to it again, I'm lazy and it works, which is the only thing what I care about.

Now close any open Firefox window. Go to the firewall settings I described above, and add those sites to Restricted;

adbrite.com
and
3.adbrite.com

Click OK in the Firewall settings. Open up Firefox, go visit SP and voila! Half the AdBrite banner is gone
------

I want many big thanks and comments if it works for you, cause this took me about one hour to figure out, but it was well worth it

Personally, the ads were driving me crazy, so I added

us.intellitxt.com\*
3.adbrite.com\*
adbrite.com\*

to this plugin 'Adblock' that I have for Firefox.
It's solved the problems for me.

Thanks for posting this for others though

I haven't tried the first post, but the second post instructions do not work for me. Probably an incompat version of firefox (1.5 beta 1). Adblock doesn't really work well with it..

Ahh yes, that seemed to do the trick.

Thanks a lot to those who contributed their time to getting rid of those ads.

Ads? What ads? I never saw them here. Must be because I use firefox 1.5 with the adblock plus extension, in addition the the filters on my firewall.

Hey thanks for fixing that, yeah I guess the wildcards at the end of the addresses "*" weren't needed afterall.

Thanks. I just rebuilt windows, and I hadn't re-installed all the anti-adware yet.

The other, of course, involves orcs.

Firefox + AdBlock extension + FiltersetG filter = no ads. The NoScript extension is also a good one.

go into 'my home' (your user control panel here at Sp)

under main configuration >

Display preferences, number of shown topics, languages, colors...

> edit

View user's pictures with their posts?

> click 'no'

> submit

then all of our lovely avatars won't be shown

Probably a good idea, if you are on either a low speed connection, or have limited bandwidth.

To stop ads I recommend AdBlock Plus and any or all of these.

To block the avatars install ABP then right click on the .gif and select AdBlock Image.

Hit OK.

Problem solved.

It's that simple.

You are infected with spyware if:

* You see too much pop-up advertisements.
* Your browser has toolbars that you haven't installed.
* Your homepage has changed (and you can't change it back).
* Other settings have changed without your permission.
* Your computer is slow.

To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
You can download a antispyware software. There are 10 good anti-spywares.
here is the reviews:<--http://toptenantispyware.com/

You can download one and scan your system.
All are safe and can be trusted.
