Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" is a classic song that's long been a favorite of Taylor Swift, perhaps because it's the ultimate "dish on your ex without naming them" song. But its originating album No Secrets is equally important, not just for the music but also its photography. The photoshoot took place while Simon was in London recording the album during September and October 1972. Helmed by noted rock photographer Ed Caraeff, the session initially took place in several settings (a park, a wall) with different outfits- whence the back cover pic. But feeling the job was not yet complete, at the end of the day Caraeff followed Simon as she was walking back to the Portobello Hotel in Notting Hill and snapped her paparazzi-style- this yielded the front cover pic that perfectly fit the title and tone of the album.
The original front and back cover pics followed by the outtakes that are available, excluding the few that are rights-managed
