Expendables 2.

Stallone knows how to make old school action flicks, I'll give him that much. Entertaining as all hell, even if they overdid it a tad on the cheesiness.

This film was Fan fucking Tastic!

First the characters...
Likable bunch without the typical cliches movies with a group of youngsters would have. The "Bad boy" is the only one who even gets close to annoying but that's only in the beginning and he's just showing off because he likes Tonkin.

Most flicks in this genre would have a male lead. Not this one. Caitlin Stasey is the main character and the leader of the group and she's brilliant. You see all her sides too. The film does a great job of developing these characters and making you like them. Phoebe Tonkin plays Fiona and holy shit she's 60 types of adorable in this movie. She's also the comedy in this movie. Phoebe's got some comic ability for sure. The acting is good to solid on all parts.

The action is very well done and fun. But what I liked most is how intense some of the scenes get. You actually are like "oh shit" for these characters. There's a helicopter searching a house with a spot light which is pretty damn awesome. You are not sure what's about to happen but it's not going to be good.I love how this movie progresses and how it slowly builds. I don't feel most movies like this do that, they sort of just jump the gun and BAM right in the shit... This one develops nicely.

The film also does a great job of setting up the sequel(out soon hyper) which will be all out WAR(thus the title). This movie focuses on building the characters and them doing what they must to survive. Next will be what they become(soldiers). I can't wait hyper

Final:Terrapin Certified(5/5)

Wow, you liked this more than I thought you would. What did I say before, 7 out of 10? And you gave it a 5/5.
I agree with all of what you said, but I guess I just took issue with some of the little things that got overlooked.

Saw this yesterday. I think that the cheesiness added to my enjoyment. It was obvious that these guys weren't taking themselves seriously. And I loved all of the "inside joke" references to the other movie roles that the major stars played.

I suppose so. I think Chuck Norris had to be my hands down favorite appearance....

"PIRANHA" - Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Kelly Brook (2010)

I saw 'Piranha' on Showtime....pretty good horror flick...it's no 'Jaws', but it has Elisabeth Shue, as hot as ever, and enough bikini'd and naked Kelly Brook for Everybody...although she goes in and out of a british accent scene by scene..
Plus, Jerry O'Connell is over the top as a 'porn' producer', and I was waiting for Christopher Lloyd (as the ichthyologist) to call everybody "Marty" in panicked breathless tones....

I would recommend this movie simply for Shue, the nudity and the special effects gore...especially the 'propeller hair' bit.

The only disappointing part was that our Ms. Shue didn't get into a bathing suit..what a missed opportunity.

Lastly, whatever this movie cost, fully 1/5th of the budget had to go to fake blood and wounds.

Paranorman.

I really liked it. I love stop motion animation but find a lot of them can be a bit boring. This one wasn't. I would rank it near the top of stop motion animation movies. Nice pace, fun story, some really interesting characters, a funny sidekick(Neil), some cool looking sets, casey affleck hyper etc etc.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)

Starring Seth Rogan and Elizabeth Banks.

Yeah, I missed this when it was playing in the teatros, but it's running currently on Comedy Central. If you catch the early night showings, they bleep the profanity. In the late night showings, the cussing is there in all its glory. But -- even though Comedy Central notices during late night say the film is uncut and uncensored, they blur out naughty bits in any nekkid scenes -- like during the shooting of the porno in the coffee shop.

What kind of ass-backward modern coffee shop still uses coffee pots on a burner? This place does. It should be in a water-heated urn because pots on a burner scorches the coffee. Hey, I'm a longtime coffee drinker.

Also, Miri has a blue clamshell iBook. 2008 was the era of the MacBook and MacBook Pro. You're behind by at least 4 revisions of Apple products. Disclaimer: I worked for Apple from 2001-2005 laugh

This of course was a romance with the porno as a smokescreen. The geeky loser Zack and geeky beauty Miri have real chemistry and feelings for each other that they don't admit until the end of the flick.

Justin Long in a cameo as a gay man at the high school reunion is precious. Seems like he can do anything acting-wise.

Traci Lords is typecast as a porn starlet. Her voice is awfully low. Is that a side effect of the things she had to do when she was in the business?

The movie is rife with rapid-fire, tossaway but highly appropriate foul language, a hallmark of many Kevin Smith directed movies. Therefore, whoever did the bleeping for Comedy Central for this flick really earned his pay . Smith is always able to use this technique to great and humorous effect. And you know what? I've seen Smith in person at a comic book convention and he is just as profane in person, and funny as hell too (we laughed for the entire hour he spoke). You can catch some of that on various YouTube clips with him, especially in interviews.

Kevin Smith movies aren't for everybody, but I really like them. I really liked this one, too.

After watching this movie I looked at my HD and found that sadly, I only had a couple handsful of Elizabeth Banks pics. Bad me! I am trying to correct that error.

I have 2 this time...

Love Birds

Cute little, slightly unconventional, love story from New Zealand. Fun and funny, quirky and sweet... but without being really sappy or unrealistic. I liked the characters, even the duck. All the actors did themselves proud here. Very enjoyable light viewing. I'd definitely watch it again.

Real Steel

I didn't have real high expectations for this, considering how it was panned and subsequently didn't exactly set the box office on fire... but I gotta tell ya, I really did like it. It has its share of issues, but it was a ton of fun. I found myself actually giving a shit about the characters and the outcome, despite all the clichés. Jackman did a good job and the kid was decent. The CGI was very well done, which kept the realism somewhat intact (I mean it is robot boxing after all). Well worth a watch.
