I JUST purchased (Through Adamcarolla.com then Amazon button), the following HARDCOVER Books:
1. "Not Taco Bell Material" by Adam Carolla $15.50 or so..
You will laugh out loud many times, and if you are smart, you will run with the message of 'you have one life..do what you want, make yourself a happy successful person, and F*ck the miserable people that just bring you down on a daily basis. Hint: pen mark the margin when you laugh out loud or find a classic quote. When you finish, you will want to re-read those quotes.
Lastly: and he told his listeners to pass this on: the adam carolla podcast at adamcarolla.com is daily, funny, and has the most amazing guests ever. Check it out, and if you hate it, don't listen again.
2. "Killing Lincoln" By Bill O'Reilly $16.50 or so..
Have not started it yet, but the reviews are top notch. I watch 'The Factor' each night, and Bill cuts through the BS and gets to the point of how F-ed up this country is, and specifically how good it SHOULD be.

Hmm. I think the last purchased book was Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything. This guy bounces around particle physics, geology, evolution, astronomy, paleontology in a very readable way, exposing little ( and huge) quirks of various giants of science. Great read.
