Wouldn't it be easier if weed was legalised and taxed?
Sure it'd steal heaps of sales away from tobacco and alcohol, but then money would be also saved by reducing: lung cancer, liver problems and alcohol related crimes.
You'd also drastically reduce crime as a whole by putting pot selling gangs out of business. Saves on law enforcement costs, legal costs, and some of the small time weed crooks in jail could actually go back to work and contribute to the economy.
That makes too much sense and it just too logical for your average, idiot, sheep American.
They are still brainwashed to the black and white thinking that drugs are bad.

What are you saying, because it sounds conspiracy theory-ish.
What do you mean?
Do you not know what Haves and Have-nots are? Did you not take any sociology classes in college?
Easy there, amigo, let's not compare brain boxes. You got a dose in the other thread, but if you need more, I've been active in plenty of others. I was referring to your 'conspiracy theory-ish' comment. Could you elaborate?

Worse still, they're making it harder and harder to even be self-sufficient. In some places it's illegal to capture rainwater for drinking. My neighbor who owns (past tense now) a goat farm had to get rid of his flock because of regs that would require him to put in a very expensive pond to capture water.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was soon deemed illegal to have a private garden.

They're already giving people shit for that, despite the first lady's efforts, even. I'm not sure what other thread I talked about this in, but it is becoming rampant.

Is that better or worse than a system in which the government is controlled big businesses and the super rich? Making a huger gap between the rich, the (now lower) middle class, and the increasing population of lower class?

In my opinion, it's almost the same thing. Just with wealthy business men making most of the rules instead of wealthy "intellectuals"... all of whom pad each others pockets and do each other special favors.

I'm totally for someone who takes care of the poor and the middle class. I also definitely support someone who wants to give small businesses a tax break. My dad used to have a small business long ago and I know how hard it is to make it.
Excuse my language but fuck Walmart and other huge businesses monopolizing the market. That's so not the American dream. Everybody should have a fair chance for a great life if you are smart enough and work hard enough. And I mean real work, not screwing with numbers and doing some "creative accounting" for big companies and making five million in bonuses for work that's harmful in the long run to the health of the economy.
I have no sympathy for billionaires wanting a tax break. There are hundreds of thousands of hard working and honest people who have been laid off or fired from their jobs just because some huge business wanted to save itself some money. People should come first, not business, not government, just people. And whatever the system, it must be fair and give everybody a real chance at the good life, and I mean everybody!
So small businesses deserve the breaks. And when those breaks, savvy business acumen, and hard work turn them into a large successful businesses..... FUCK 'EM! Rake Their Asses Over The Coals!
Sure, that makes sense.
I'm sick of people in this country who haven't made it big, blaming everyone who has made it big for their own failures.
