Actually, recall elections are very seldom successful; we should probably consider it more the re-election of an incumbent that the triumph of a specific issue, in which case it ran very true-to-form. The various advantages of incumbency are difficult to overcome for any challenger.

And goodness, were the polls ever off! I thought I was hearing a dead heat as late as a couple days before the vote.

Umm... in case you've not been paying attention, this is only the 3rd recall election of a governor in American history, and the previous 2 governors LOST their bid to stay in office.

So your opening statement is completely in error.

Scott Walker is the 1st governor in American history to survive a recall race.

It would appear that Wisconsin voters have finally gotten wise to the scam of unions "collectively bargaining" with the very political bodies that their union dues support.

Why do you insist on making such easily-refutable, overreaching statements?

I wasn't.

Look at what he quoted from my post; I never mentioned any office at all.

He heard what he wanted to hear, made a typically condescending comment, added a ridiculous blanket statement, and tried to change the subject to pick a fight about unions.

Frankly, I don't know why he's talking to me again, after telling me to F-off all those times after he practically swan-dived into the trap Feral (unintentionally?) set regarding "strong leaders." Maybe he's just that desperate for attention.

For 2 people who presume themselves to be clever, tgas and Feral are proving to be incredibly dense and predictable.

It would seem my time away was much better spent - a good book is much better company than the smug, self-important small minds so prevalent here.

Well... back to my books.

You're still on that? It's going on months now. The dismissive wave of a high hand and movie critic insults only come across as sulking.
Let it go.

Books are great. But I could argue that debate, not variety, is the spice of life. cool2

How is it in error? If the following statements were intended to show it to be wrong, none of them contradict the above.

...regardless of any dislike you may or may not have towards certain people.

I agree. Or, in other words, because debate is both unpredictable and varied, especially when it touches on personal issues, for people are inclined to not consider those possibilities which would annoy/irk/anger them.
