Yet another bugged quest, seems the Waking Nightmare Daedric quest gets bugged if you don't speak to the Jarl of Dawnstar first. I went to the inn and started the quest that way. When Erandur and I entered the Nightcaller Temple he ended up way down in the tower and I can't get past the barrier cause he's not up there to open it. Good thing I have two other Daedric quests to complete to get the trophy for having 15 Daedric items.
Think I'll make a few suggestions to them to fix the quest bugs I've experienced in the next patch.

Talking to Jarl is not required to complete the Quest. I finished the Quest and I have never talked to the Jarl.
If I recall you must do something else before the barrier comes down.

the problem is Erandur is way down in the lower level of the tower. i had just started the quest, followed him there, and when I went in after he did, his quest arrow to follow him was way off the compass. I've looked it up, it's a glitch in the quest. Only PC plyers can fix it without loading a previous save and I didn't have any current saves to load after this quest bugged.

It's Been awhile since I did any of those Quests. Don't recall how the entire Quest plays out.
Because there just wasn’t enough to do in Skyrim already, Bethesda is adding mounted combat in its 1.6 update. You can actually check this feature out right now if you own the PC version and opt into the Steam beta update. There’s no timeframe yet for consoles, but Bethesda said on its blog that 1.6 will show up for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 eventually. Other additions and fixes include kill cam adjustments and, on Xbox 360, issues with Kinect features. Also, it seems as though Bethesda has finally addressed the dreaded nirnroot lighting glitches, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief. You can find a full change list at: bethblog.com.
