Saw The Avengers. It had some good action and a few good laughs. But, ultimately, I felt like I had seen it already. There's been so many of these comic book movies, and they all seem to take place in New York. I mean...damn, how many times can one city be torn up, only to look pristine in the next comic film? Go destroy LA, Chicago or Houston already and leave NYC alone!
The only character I truly loved in the movie was Iron Man because RDJ plays it absolutely perfect. I also loved Scarlett's ass. Twas amazing on the gigantic screen. Her character was decently good, as was Captain America. Hulk was...Hulk. Thor I enjoyed, even though I had never seen his feature film. I'd rank Hemsworth second behind RDJ in this film. I'm not a huge Samuel L Jackson fan, because his "bad-ass-ness" is overrated. But he was pretty good as Nick Fury. A good role for him.

Speaking of Iron Man, I shook my head at the sight of him being beaten up by the aliens, while Captain America and his shield beat the crap out of them. The enemy was made to look so menacing and bad-ass, yet some guy with an A on his head tears them apart easily? Meanwhile, the Hulk can take down the gigantic alien creature pretty easily, yet Thor takes it to him? Kind of uneven there.
I was entertained by the movie, but it didn't leave an impact on me like the original Spider Man (remember when Toby Maguire was Spider Man? ) or the first Iron Man. Those movies told great tales and left me wanting more. My test is: when I see the film, do I immediately think I can't wait for this to come out on DVD/Blu-Ray! ? The afore-mentioned movies I bought on day one. The Avengers? I might pick it up the week it comes out. Is it life-or-death if I do? No.

Everyone made this out to be a "must-see" moment. Eating food in a diner for 30 seconds. Really?

Second best comic book movie ever! Still doesn't touch The Dark Knight, but it was insane amounts of fun.
Joss Whedon knocked it out of the park! We've seen movies with too many villains nose dive (Spiderman 3), a movie with this many heroes could have easily done the same thing. The characters each seemed to have a balanced portion of the story-line, even the "mortals" (Hawkeye & Widow). Probably most important of all, this is the BEST the Hulk has ever looked on screen.
A+

Yeah, because I don't fall into the same trap as everyone else

Cap and Widow fought ground troops and among ALL of them, Cap is the single best hand to hand combatant. Tony was above ground, fighting stronger guys. And while these aliens are menacing in number and weaponry: a)Captain America's shield is INDESTRUCTIBLE. Nothing they can do to it would harm it in anyway. If Thor can't do it, the aliens can't. b)That indestructible shield? As shown, Cap can wield it like no one else can, so almost any blast they throw at him him will be deflected, which means the troops have to go into hand to had combat with, again, the single most skilled hand to hand combatant the team has. And since none of the aliens were shown to have super-strength...yeah, Cap wins. C)It wasn't that easy of a time for Cap, as he got tore up and was exhausted by the end of the battle. THEY ALL WERE. d) They all had jobs, as given to them by Cap. As stated earlier, what Tony was dealing with in the sky was different than what Cap and Widow had to deal with. Tony was dealing with more heavy artillery essentially, because his armor could take it, and he also took more than a few hits. Tony was taking some serious hits from more powerful sources, but that's what he could do.
As for Thor Hulk, I fail to see any issue there. What's the problem with Thor being able to fight the Hulk? He's a god...and that giant alien machine creature, while large, doesn't move anywhere near fast enough to be able to stop the Hulk in anyway, it's size is both an advantage and a disadvantage. Thor on the other hand is far more able to deal with Hulk in size and strength. It's fairly cut and dry...
I never saw Captain America or Thor, so excuse anything I said about either of them that didn't sound knowledgeable
I'm not a comic book reader, so I've enjoyed seeing these movies to discover the stories of the characters depicted. Unfortunately, it prevents me from being well-versed on them as many may be. But there's been so many of them made lately that I had to take a break (thus I skipped Captain America, Thor, Green Lantern and the most recent Hulk).
I liked the movie....good action, some funny parts, etc. Just didn't live up to the hype (and there was a lot of it these last two weeks). I would've thought this was this generation's Casablanca
