So, the popular vote dropped Maria from first to last? WOW! I realize it was a small gap among the four, but to be bypassed by all the other three . . that's a stunner! I wonder if this judicial/public divide was just this week or has been going on all season.

This is what I hate about this and other voting contest shows. Votes are determined for other factors outside the actual abilities in question.

But it's the public voting that makes these shows popular . . American Idol's judges don't even issue scores, it's completely determined by popular vote . . and AI is the highest rated show on the air. This is TV after all . . Ratings (which are driven by viewer involvement) will always trump all.

In addition, DWTS has always billed itself as part dance contest, part popularity contest.. if that means a contestant gets "prematurely" booted (even if it's the one you've been rooting for), that's just the way it falls occasionally.

It's also their downfall.
Like last season the sentimental favorite won. I don't know how well he did against the others for real though. I also remember Stacy Keibler doing very well (a finalist) but the public voted for Lachey. If it's a close looking vote, the guys have the edge.
Reality show voting seems to be dominated by female voters. A good reason why Levy is still on as well. And why alot of male singers go farther along in American Idol.

This time around I think Jenkins benefited from a sympathy vote. More so than Maria which has been dancing injured almost all season.
