I don't really buy into the "blank slate" position, and I certainly don't see it as a solution given who we have as informing those blank slates given our current "educational" system.

An American reformation could only occur from a true grassroots movement such as the much maligned Tea Party movement. But you seem to be distrustful of this - by inference of course as you've not yet commented on it directly (at least as far as I can recall).

Honestly, short of an outright violent revolution, movements like the Tea Party are the only potentially viable solution to our current situation.

But I'd certainly be open to other ideas.

You know what he means, and he already answered, of course, but keep in mind that your feelings about anyone's answer, or your thoughts of it's feasibility, or both, possibly more of one than the other, do not actually make him wrong. Even if every single person in the world had no alternative, or only had alternatives which would most definitely fail or be worse, in every way, this still wouldn't mean the statement was false.

And, what he says is probably true.

Sometimes I read things like this and I think, did they just wake up and realize this or are they trying to scare us? I think everybody should know that explosives could be hidden ANYWHERE. Same with people smuggling drugs. It's like one day somebody wakes up and goes, Oh, did you guys realize that people could hide drugs inside their ear canal?!!! Gasp! Let's probe people's ears from now on!!!
