The Avengers
HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!!
I left the theater thinking only one thing.. that that was the best action movie I have ever seen.
This movie did everything right. Problem with films with a ton of superheroes is having useless characters and overshining and the writers having no clue what to do with everyone. WELLLL... Not for Joss and his team. Every hero every character played a role in this movie, everyone had equal time to bad ass up and show off their awesome. They gave depth to characters without using flashbacks which was cool to see. Like we know Hawkeye and Black Widow have a history without having lame flashbacks or scenes giving that history layers. Every hero is amazing in this movie.
The movie also doesn't feel like 2 hours and twenty minutes. It flies by. Wall to wall action, greatttttt dialogue(esp via my bff Tony Stark), great villain, great job on all actors parts, insane insane insane amounts of destruction and CGI done to absolute perfection. Hero on Hero battles all incredibly done and visually appealing(for example..no shaky camera)
and the eye candy? Scarlett has many good ass shots in this movie, and 2 ammmmaaazing jaw dropping ass shots(at least for a booty connoisseur like myself). Cobie is just too beautiful and lovely in her tight little shield suit. Both are bad ass in this movie esp Scarlett who does some super cool shit, her scenes were some of my favorites.
and Hawkeye.. goddamn what a bad ass he is.
there was at least 10 times during the avengers where the entire theater was .
I can't honestly think of one movie with even close to as much action as this movie, and well done action at that.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol--saw it last night. Yay for second-run theaters!
Tom Cruise tries to recapture the glory days. Paula Patton is drool-worthy, as is Léa Seydoux. Jeremy Renner's part in this movie plays like a precursor to his role in The Avengers. The End.
I give this film a B. I tend to grade on a curve anyway, but this movie did well for a film that could have had a lot more inside jokes than it did. I didn't leave feeling like I had to have seen the first three movies to get the context. If I had extra cash lying around, I'd buy this movie even if I didn't buy the whole M:I series, which I would because I'm a completionist at heart.

Double dipped a matinee today. Avengers followed by Hunger Games.
Avengers
I agree with the past replies, except one small thing.

I don't fully understand why they fell for Loki's trap and didn't expect or prepare to get tracked down. I understand they wanted to interrogate him, but he made it too easy for capture. They knew it, but didn't bother and get blindsighted like nothing. Not a big deal though.
Otherwise this is definitely the best Marvel movie, slightly surpassing Captain America only for the number of superheroes involved and tons of action.
A+ or 5 stars
Hunger Games: It was an ok movie. Not bad, but I really don't see the super craziness about it. Maybe the romance is too romanticized by women and girls? It also felt very predictable. Jennifer Lawrence is adorable in this and somewhat shows why she was an Academy Award nominee (though this isn't exactly an Academy Award possibility, if that makes any sense). A way better actress than most young actresses around her age.
B+

Dark Shadows - 2/5
Got a free screening to this. Sucked. Big time. Burton has NO idea what tone he wants of the movie. And the movie has no idea what plot it wants to follow.
The strongest character by far is Angelique, played by Eva GReen. The woman gives one Hell of a performance in this movie, outshining everyone else by far.
There are some interesting things visually, but even by Burton's standards, it looks pedestrian. Though in a way, I like that it's different, the colors somewhat muted. And interesting things are done with camera placement.
But that doesn't make a good movie, and neither does a wonderful performance by a gorgeous woman. Avoid Dark Shadows. Unless you can get in for free. In that case, have at it.

Well I finally saw The Avengers today. Cool movie. Lots of action. Some nice laughs here and there. And Scarlett Johansson's booty looked very nice in that catsuit. I'm glad I stayed until after the credits. That was a fun surprise.
