bioware have already said we should keep are me3 saves there only reason why we need to keep them if the next game is not a shepard one I am guessing we will get something like knights of the old republic 2 where she is talked about maybe we will get he is now the leader of earth or retired with her li
I wouldn't take that Comment to Serious. It is coming from the Same person who told the fans X things will happen and it never did.
Got love those Longer Hair Options, Marriage Options and Solid Conclusion to Shepard Story, O Wait those things never happened.
If the Saves will be used in future games it will be on the lines of Dragon Age II. Where you have some Quick Cameos, Background Chatter, Dialogue about What Shepard is or did Do and Maybe a few exclusive Side Quests.
If Mass Effect 4 Picks up after the Epilogue, Most of the Mass Effect 1 - 3 Characters will be Dead except for Grunt, Wrex and Liara(If you kept them alive in your Playthrough).
I will bet he said that for SP DLC.
the reason I would take it Serious is that at the very least the next game will use it as a back story for the universe they are not going to just go with there own history for the first 3 games
one place they could go with a new game is there is a council rule of not opening new relays because of the rachni wars maybe the relays having to be rebuilt opened them up for some new bad guys to come through or even you get sent to explore the new regions
You also need to remember Xbox 360 Cycle is coming to an End. Not sure if Mass Effect 4 will be a 360 title. Also Unless MS is going to give us a Way to Transfer all our Saves over, ME3 Saves will be useless. Production on Mass Effect 4 hasn't even started and will take about 2 to 3 years if the same Engine is used.
Most of the Team is busy at Work on SP DLC and MP DLC.

well even if they dont I am sure someone out there in net land will work out away to do it what worries me more is if the next one is not able to play mass effect 1 2 and 3 at all they both sony and mircosoft don have the best record with backward compatibilty

It doesn't matter if a 3rd party figures it out or not. Mass Effect 4 will not have Import Feature. A few BioWare Devs already Stated their will be no Save Import if Mass Effect 4 Happens. If or When Mass Effect 4 happens it will start Fresh from the ground up. Mac Walters Also stated the same things.
If Mass Effect 4 took Place after Mass Effect 3 Epilogue 99% of the characters will be dead Including Shepard.
I assume you never had a 20 or 60 Gig PS3? Those Played most PS2 and some PS1 Titles just fine. MS went with Software BC instead of Hardware like Sony did with their Launch Systems.

yea I did have one of the first ps3 but I let my friend have it who had her stole in a break in and I got a new one down the line
well if me4 is set after me3 even if it is set 200 years later you would still need the history touched on unless for the first time they are going to set a cannon to shepards story

They will just do the normal Wall of text at the start of the game. They will tell the Year and whats currently going on.
If Shepard is brought up in any part of the game it will be some very vague Comments. Like the "The Warden" in Dragon Age II.
BioWare already said their is no Canonized Ending or Story for Shepard. Marketing for Mass Effect does Canonize Shepard a bit.
Epilogue does take Place 300 Years into the Future, My Bet is Mass Effect 4 will take place about 1000 Years after Mass Effect 3 Ends.
I think I Re-Started my Adept (Female Shepard) Playthrough like Six Times already. CC does not = Your In-Game Shepard. Twice I reach the Citadel and Started over since some facial feature did not look right.
Thankfully I think I got my Female Shepard looking best I can with limited Character Creator. Wish I could Re-Create my Character from Saint's Row: The Third, Unfortunately I can't.
Female Shepard needs better Hair Styles. They should have given us styles like Miranda, Allers and Ashley hair Styles. 360/PC can Mod in Allers Style and PC Can mod in Ashley's.
Still Debating what Bonus Power to use. Adept only Weakness is against Shields, Which Adept has No Ability to take them down unless you have a Tech in your Squad.
Best Bonus Power for Shield Damage would be Energy Drain Which Also Recharges Your Shields.
On the Other hand you could go with Dark Channel which Eats through any protection in the game & Power Keeps jumping from Target to Target(Within a Certain Range). Dark Channel is also a Primer for Biotic Explosions. The down Side to Dark Channel is the Annoying Sound that Comes with it, You can still hear the dam sound in Cut Scenes.
Lastly would be Stasis (With Bubble). Anyone who get's inside of the Bubble will be trapped(Who are not Armored) and are setup for Biotic Explosions. Plus you have a 30% Chance for No Cooldown when it's Casted.
GamesCom - BioWare has already Confirmed they will be their, Not Sure if their will be a Panel Like Last Year. Dragon-Con - BioWare (Only the Dragon Age Team) PAX-West - No Word, It's very likely Since Both Mass Effect & Dragon Age Teams were at the Event last Year.
Expect some kind of Announcement From Atlease one of These Events. Maybe we will get two ScreenShots this time.
It's been, oh, around a year since we last heard anything about the Hollywood adaptation of Mass Effect. While it's easy to joke that's because the team have had to go back and write a new ending, it seems the end (and beginning, and middle) have already been written, and quietly handed into teacher.
A report on Deadline about something else quickly slides in the fact that Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend), the project's screenwriter, has already written a Mass Effect script for Legendary Pictures, and is now moving onto another sci-fi project, Collider, alongside Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz).
So, if the script is done, what's the hold-up? The movie was supposed to be out this year, and we've heard nothing since Comic-Con 2011.
