The performances were good. Lizard looked incredible and real as did Spiderman's travels through the city. I felt I was watching someone actually swing through from building to building unlike watching a video game in the old Spiderman.
Reason why it wasn't great - I kept hearing it is a "darker version" It wasn't, it had the same feel as the Maguire/Raimi version. Highly disappointed about that, but overall a good movie and again as in all superhero movies don't leave once the credits roll.
This. I was hoping for a huge difference ala Batman Begins vs the 90's Batmans. It's better than the Tobey SpiderMan's, but really not significantly better. Seems more like a part 4 intertwined with a different view on Spidey's origins, better cast, better CGI, and better direction.

Much more true to the spirit of the comics than Raimi's. Great chemistry between Garfield and Stone. Gwen is actually likable, which instantly puts her far ahead of Dunst's MJ. Peter isn't a creepily obsessed guy who seems as if he's teetering on the edge of suicidal depression, so he's light-years ahead of McGuire. Hell, even Flash shows some humanity, you could imagine Peter and him becoming the antagonistic friends that they became in college.
There were some parts where it diverged wildly from the comics, but it never broke from the spirit of the comics.
I hope the sequels are handled as well as this first installment.

Choose.
Easily one of the most predictable movies in terms of scene to scene I've ever seen. I would turn to my brother and say what was about to happen..and it would, right down to the dialogue. It was just lazy writing. Then the end was not predictable but so stupid and so so lazy..and to think it was written by 2 people ..and the final final scene makes no fucking sense.
but... I was entertained by the movie because it was fun playing "can i guess what's next" game. And it stars the insanely hot

Savages.
More like "loosely" based on the novel. This movie ditches the story of the book by the end of the first act and then just uses ideas from it. The ending is completely different.
The ending sucked. The book's didn't.
Del Toro sucked.
Blake merely had to look good..not much stretch there.
The only characters in the movie that are good are Ben and Chon. Too much of the movie is spent on other characters that are not Ben and Chon.
you think by the trailer this movie is full of high intense action? barely any.
The film is also much less funny than the novel.
Oliver Stone can eat a dick, he raped a good book and made a bad movie from it. And had I not read the book this movie would still be meh. Grade:C

I've honestly never understood what it is people don't like about Hulk. It's true to the core of the character (significantly moreso than the other Hulk movie), it's delves into the characters, it has great performances, and it's stylistically brilliant. I never found it bad or boring. At all. Not then, not when I just re-watched it a couple months back, not during the (holy shit!) 9 years in between.
Second one though, was thoroughly mediocre, despite a really great performance for Tim Roth.
