As a former mod I know some things can slip by and many times it's regular members that spot out such posts like spam and rapidshare phishing.
I like this idea. People reporting links in the chat thread always had a pretty good degree of success, providing a moderator was participating when the link was posted. The problem with posting links in the chat is that it may get missed or buried beneath all the chat posts.
This suggestion definitely has my approval.
Is this idea any further down the line to being introduced?

We did discuss it recently because a few of us aren't getting the 'notify mod' emails. The problem with it is that most people probably wouldn't use it because the SP public and lurkers will be able to see exactly who has reported each problem post/member. I'm for it myself because I don't get the emails anymore and it would be interesting to see how many people would actually use it.

Yeah, I learned that from Steel yesterday. It's why I bumped the suggestion.

Could you expand on that part, please? You mean people wouldn't like seeing their errors (replies beyond the 30 day rule, par example) highlighted? You never know, it might teach them to not do it in future. Besides, they'd have to realise it'd be in the interests of the forum, end of.
If you're worried about that, you could stick it in the Corner. That section probably has less lurkers than anywhere else.

I mean that people mightn't want to report problems in a thread because the person that they are reporting would know exactly who made the complaint. It could cause bad feelings between forum members who would normally get on with each other. I'm not saying that the idea is dead and we'll look into it further

That does not appear to be a problem in the other forums I know of that have "Report A Problem" threads. The vast majority of such problems are made by new users and to be blunt no one is particularly worried about upsetting them anyways. If they're the kind to get PO'd about it then they'd get PO'd just by being moderated, regardless of whether the reporting of it was public or private. Everyone else just goes "Oops, sorry" and are just fine.
I realize that the forum administration doesn't want to appear to be promoting copyright violations with a separate movie video section but a large percentage of the threads in the Singers/Musicians section are music videos. Perhaps a sub-section could be added to it just for music videos?
