conservative != classical liberal

Maybe for you.....as in you define yourself both as a conservative and a classical liberal, but the word conservative is supposed to apply to a large group of people not just you. And even in you, the above relation doesn't hold. You're not all classical liberal. A bit more than the average conservative, maybe.

She was going to talk about her lesbian friend, who needed birth control for a medical issue unrelated to reproduction, but her conservative Christian employers wouldn't listen to her (she was a lesbian, after all).

I guess you're a dittohead, just agree with Rush without checking the actual facts. Baaaahhhh. Conservative sheep, no wonder conservative and Christian go hand in hand.

P.S. I really REALLY hope that Rush Limbaugh becomes the face of conservative America. If you can't admit to yourself that he is harmful to your cause then you are not nearly as intelligent as you think you are.

This thread is veering off the subject...

From the inflammatory typeface with which the headline in that news statement was presented, one might think she was actually advocating murder, instead of presenting an argument that anti-abortion rights lobbyists might find supports their position.

The irony then that she is apparently receiving death threats from pro-life sympathizers is...well, ironic.

I hate to break this to you, but the overwhelming majority of liberals consider themselves inherently more correct than conservatives as well.

Actually, I find moderate conservatives much more tolerant than moderate liberals. The conservatives tend to think of the liberals as wrong and misguided, but even the moderate liberals seem to blanketly assume that all conservatives are soulless, evil creatures.

Thinking your side is right is one thing. Thinking the other side is inherently corrupt is another. That was the point I was trying to make. I mean, boggie basically said that most of the horrible ideals of the world are on the left, and it's only when you get super extreme to the right that you get anything approaching the left. Doesn't seem too tolerant to me. Of course, he is far right. cheeky

Like I said, comparing the moderates, I find the conservative side to be a bit less attack, Attack, ATTACK ! then the liberal side.

One might question whether those moderates are as moderate as you believe. But I think in the end it all comes down to perspective. I don't think any of it is really quantifiable.

I could give a damn who she was testifying for or why! One, it is against the 1st Amendment to force a religion to subsidize something that is directly counter to a fundamental belief of that religion!

Second, Fluke is deliberatly LYING about the affordability of birth control as there is a Target store right in that university's immediate vicinity with a pharmacy that sells the pill for $9/month!

This whole thing is BULLSHIT smokescreen and a crass attempt to subvert not only the 1st Amendment, but just plain fucking common sense!!!

If birth control pills are needed for a genuine health condition then they can get them from Target or Wall Mart for $9/month.

Another very specious claim by Fluke has to do with her gay friend with polycystic ovarian syndrome. She said her insurance provider would not cover them because they believed they were for sexual, not medical reasons. I'm going to call bullshit on this one because a diagnosis PCOS is not one arrived at lightly, and the condition carries multiple other health complications. Her insurance provider would have known that birth control pills are a routine treatment for PCOS - if she did indeed have a valid diagnosis. And it would be quite likely that she would be on other medications, not related to contraception, for the condition. Nothing about Fluke's story rings true. The real truth is that she is a radical feminist and leftist (as her resume makes all too clear).

She is just another radical leftist with an anti-religious agenda and the MSM are going to lift her up as some kind of hero, suppress any coverage not in line with her agenda (as it is the MSM's as well), and attack anyone who questions her story or motive.

The only sheep here are those who believe Obamacare's mandate for FREE contraception by ALL insurers is a good thing, or even remotely constitutional as applied to religious institutions.

If you cannot afford contraception for sex, then you shouldn't be having sex... PERIOD!
