They get back to earth in time. The Ending is so Open-Ended, going have to headcannon some things. Normandy is only in FTL for less than 10 Seconds. Their not that far outside the Sol System. If the lore from ME2 still holding up they can use the shuttles to get back.

Also their a rumor whoever you bring with you to earth should remain. However theirs a bug that teleports them back.

Has anyone gotten Kelly to appear? I know she suppose to somewhere on D2 I just can't find her. Maybe you had to romance/flirt with her for her to appear.

If she doesn't appear she get's killed off Screen by Cerberus.
