What was the new HDTV that you got? I'm in the market for one of those, too. I have a 40'' Samsung in one room, but I'm looking to get another TV for the bedroom. So I'll happily consider any HDTV recommendations as well.
You got it, man. That Panny player should come in at well under $200.
Toshiba 40FT2U1. Loving it so far. Also very affordable.

I highly recommend the books.
The TV series is pretty faithful, but the books will add a lot more depth to your viewing experience.

Well, the S1 set arrived today.
The online pictures don't do this set justice. The packaging and box art are absolutely beautiful to behold in person. The standard cover (Ned sitting on the iron throne) just works perfectly. Best Buy and Futureshop also have exclusive slip covers based on the Stark and Targaryen house sigils.
The special features completely exceeded every one of my expectations. They are pretty close to the level of extras included in a Criterion Collection release. In depth and great for fans as well as newcomers. HBO really knocked this one out of the park.
