If Joseph Smith was such a liar and scam artist why would he suffer taunts and scorn from nieghbours, friends... death threats to himself and his family and loved ones..forced to leave his home several times, jailed...be tarred and feathered and even die for his beliefs at the hand of an angry mob if he knew that that it all was a scam?

I'm delusional and irrational? Have you seen the adult literacy and college literacy surveys? The last thing that most people are is rational. I, on the other hand, have a half dozen A's in university math and passed a course in real analysis so I'm highly rational.

Except he was GOING to let them go. Then god "hardened his heart", IE, fucked with his mind to prevent him from letting them go. Then he continued to heap punishment on him for failing to let them go.
