For the time being, how about a sticky acknowledging and explaining the situation with the Search and Active Topics functions being down? It might stop people creating the same threads about the same problem every other hour...

It could be fixed at any time because the person that needs to do it isn't someone that posts here and he has been contacted about the problem. It's taken a lot longer this time than usual though but it should be working again soon

Unfortunately this problem cannot be corrected with SP running. The forum will need to be shut down for the problem to be fixed.
We're waiting for an appropriate time (when traffic is at it's lowest) before we shut it down.
