Maybe it's just because they're my second favorite team, but I see the Blackhawks going deep this year. They've finally had some time to rest this offseason, and they've started replacing some of the depth they lost after they won the Cup. I look for either Toews or Kane to really break out offensively. Hopefully Kane's wrist surgery doesn't slow down his offseason workouts too much. They definitely need Keith to get back to his Norris level.
The pressure's really on the Avs this year, trading their first rounder to Washington for Varlamov. They'll need to stay healthy, but if they do I can see a return to the playoffs. Hoping for a big breakout for Duchene.
MOSCOW -- A Russian jet carrying a local hockey team crashed Wednesday while taking off in western Russia, killing 36 people and leaving one critically injured, officials said.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said the Yak-42 crashed immediately after taking off from an airport near the city of Yaroslavl, on the Volga River, 240 kilometres northeast of Moscow. It said one person survived the crash with grave injuries.
The ministry said the plane was carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team from Yaroslavl.
The team was heading to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where it was to play Thursday against Dinamo Minsk in the opening game of the season of the Kontinental Hockey League.
The KHL is a league of several ex-Soviet countries.
I was in Vegas recently, and I put down 10 bucks on Tampa Bay to win the Cup (I have them facing San Jose in what will be a ratings disaster)
You can't say it would be a ratings disaster. I know you have numbers I've seen the ratings you've posted before for sun belt Stanley Cup games. but people would tune in to watch Stamkos play for the Cup if for no other reason at all.

I'd tune in, as much as I hate the Lightning for always beating the Habs, but they've got so many Canadian players on the team that it's hard to hate them
Neither team from last year will be in the finals this year.
Forget about Boston repeating.
Vancouver had their chance and blew it.

I think adding Richards and Rupp will vastly help the Rangers.
I expect the hopefully improved offense to take the pressure off Lundqvist and Biron and hopefully translate to several more wins and thus a higher Playoff seeding than 8th.
We were 44-33-5 with 93 points last season. I'm hoping that increases to like 48-31-3 or better.
