Always the defender of greedy government unions eh?
Let's review: private sector employees don't see a 4+% raise every year, particularly during our current economic mess, and they have to contribute toward their health care plans.
NJ school teachers get a 4+% raise every year (no matter how much they suck) AND they pay NOTHING toward their extremely generous health care plans. AND to add insult to injury, it is those private sector taxpayers who pay for all of this.
And when asked to accept just a one year freeze, not even a cut, just a freeze, on those pay increases and to pay just a tiny 1.5% of their wages toward their Cadillac health care plans so that Christie would not have to cut the number of teachers in the state, the unions just give the governor the middle finger and tell him to fuck off - and then send out an email asking their union members to pray for Christie's death.
And this all seems quite reasonable to you. You are going to side with the government unions and their extremely unreasonable position (not to mention their disgusting behavior in wishing for Christie's death)?
Why am I not surprised.
How about the tea party about increasing revenue? Should they not yield?
No. They should not yield. We have proven over decades that giving the government more money (via increased taxes) only results in even more irresponsible spending! We are now $14 TRILLION dollars in debt, with unfunded liabilities at ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!
This is a figure so astronomical that there is almost no way to comprehend it.
And what do our elected representatives want to do to address this? They want to make phony "cuts" to the baseline budget AND raise our taxes. What they call a "cut" is nothing more than a reduction in the amount they are going to INCREASE spending by in any given year! This is little more than political prestidigitation.
They say they are "cutting" the budget NOW, but not only are these "cuts" NOT cuts, but they are also spread out over the next decade. Of course, future politicians in those out years are not obligated to honor those cuts.
This is how we have been suckered time, after time, after time by the political class over the decades. They SAY they will cut spending and then renege on that promise every single time! The federal government only ever gets bigger and costs more, year after year after year.
I defend teachers because they deserve to be defended, not millionaires and billionaires, oops, I mean "job creators."
You are not defending teachers, many of whom lost their jobs because Christie was forced to cut them to meet the budget because the unions would not bend even a little. You are defending GREEDY union officials.
Don't you think those teachers who lost their jobs thanks to their union executives would have rather taken that one year pay freeze and pay that minuscule 1.5% toward their Cadillac health care plans? And do you believe for one second they were actually given that choice?
I'm a cold-hearted bastard? This is coming from the guy who doesn't think everyone deserves health care. HILARIOUS!
Yes, a cold-hearted bastard, that's right. Think of those teachers who had great jobs before their union bosses told Christie to shove his deal where the sun don't shine. Now they're on the unemployment line and soon they'll be looking to get food stamps. All because their union bosses wouldn't accept a great deal when you consider how hard it is for those in the private sector.
As for who deserves what, you deserve what you can earn for yourself, nothing more, nothing less. You have a constitutionally guaranteed (and protected) right to life, liberty and property and that is ALL you have a right to. These are NATURAL rights, not the "rights" invented by liberals in government.
Our NATURAL rights do NOT require that our fellow citizens give up ANY of their own property and do not infringe on their rights to life, liberty and property.
Liberals INVENTED "rights" DO require that the government FORCE free citizens to surrender their property to redistribute it others to whom it did not belong and who did not work to obtain that property.
I ignored you? You ignored my whole post and several of mine for a week or 2 now. I'm the hypocrite? MORE HILARIOUSNESS!
What "whole post?" Is there some verbal flatulence of yours that I've missed?
I'm a hypocrite? About what? I have illustrated just now why YOU are, but you haven't given any reason how I am.
How about the fact that you completely ignore that it is LIBERALS in government and the teachers unions who ALWAYS oppose, VEHEMENTLY I might add, school voucher programs that would allow low and middle income Americans to use their own tax dollars to send their children to the school of their choice! Liberals don't want parents to have that choice - even as those same liberals send their kids off to private schools.
Liberal politicians know that teachers unions are a critical constituency and will do anything that constituency wants in exchange for their votes.
Teachers unions, especially those union executives who are pulling down fat, 6 figure salaries, don't want parents to have a choice on where they send their kids to school because they know that parents would flee their lousy government schools in droves if vouchers became available and that would threaten their existence.
No, they'd rather keep those children prisoners in poorly performing government schools and not face what REAL competition on a broad scale would do to their comfy little world where no one has to try too terribly hard and everyone has a job for life no matter how much they suck at it.
I noticed that you never answered my response the one, single, post you made that seemed even remotely moderate.
I actually noted that moderation.
Of course, you immediately reverted to character and are now back to posting in absolutes and ignoring the facts on the ground.
I provided FULL details on why Christie had to cut teachers HERE.
And you simply dismissed those facts out of hand without providing a scrap of evidence on how I was wrong.
Of course, you can't provide evidence that I was wrong in that post because those ARE the facts of the situation. Christie's hand was forced by the teachers unions. He would have had the money to avoid cuts had those unions simply gone along with the deal. They did not. They told Christie to fuck off and then sent up prayers for his untimely demise - like the spoiled brats they are.
