If you use WINRAR I think there is an option when 'unraring' that is called Keep Damaged Files or something. Have only happened to me a couple of times and by choosing this I have at least got the stuff that wasn't corrupt in the first place.
I have never RARed anything so I don't know what the original poster might have done wrong in the first place.

Yes, but I find it unlikely that anyone would have to split a 45MB file. Unless it's for 'rewards' or points at the hosting site. Same goes for making RARs in the first place. Why?

People use rar/zip files so that they can use a meaningless filename when posting something that is likely to be reported to the filehost and deleted and then when extracted the video will have the proper filename. For example, the rar could be called PL1234.rar but when extracted it would contain Pixie_Lott_-_Turn_It_Up.mpg
It doesn't always prevent the file from being reported though

I knew that too. I was hoping for a rar abuser to reply

I used to split files into ~20mb rars when my internet connection would always cut out after 10mins - dodgy modem. Only found out much later that after automatically reconnecting it would simply continue the upload, thus no splitting into 20mb pieces was necessary. So some of us have legitimate reason for 'weird' splitting sizes. Though why I've not replaced those old files with 'proper' sized ones, well we can put that down to laziness. (oh yes, and the points are quite nice too)
not for much longer. RS are doing away with them in July and as far as I know you will lose any that you still have which is just over half a million in my case
Reward programme: RapidPoints and RapidDonations to be discontinued June 18, 2010
As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright. We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.
What will the changes mean for our users? First, nobody will lose any points that have already been accumulated. You can redeem them until July 6, 2010. Please also note that within the next days we will offer you an opportunity to convert a Collector's account into a free Premium account and to transfer your points into this Premium account. Unfortunately, we must also give up the RapidDonation scheme. An amount of 10,000 Euros was collected for each and every organisation and project that was introduced. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors for their contributions! We are currently exploring how we can continue the donation programme in the future. Clearly, we would like to continue rewarding customers who recruit new clients. As soon as we have developed a new reward programme, we will of course contact you immediately to provide more details.

I'd say we were in the same boat, but since (having just extended my account as much as poss) I'm only losing (goes off to check) 666 points, it's kinda like me being in one of those single paddle boats thingies, flapping away in the swimming pool, housed in your Titanic mark 4.

I have a whole bunch of both premium and collectors points but I don't know what to do with them (I have a collector account) With the kind of content I post it takes about 3 months to get what it takes to keep a premium running for free - not 1 as is (was?) the deal
