I did briefly contemplate putting this in its own thread but I realised that its proper place was in the religious jokes thread.

Kent Hovind's PhD "Thesis" from the non-University. Get a load of this from the introduction...

If my MA dissertation had been along that theme, I don't think any of the examiners would have got beyond the introduction and it would have failed. I'll post the intro from my BA and MA dissertations tomorrow to show what they are supposed to be about.

EDIT: Here are the introductions from my BA and MA dissertations respectively

Quote:
The aim of this report is to establish whether the architectural development of Cistercian monasteries can be correlated with the reduction of austerity between foundation and closure. Tintern Abbey will be the primary focus as it constitutes the best surviving example in Wales and South West England. One other example (Cleeve Abbey, Somerset) will be referenced to show common aspects.

Both sites will be visited to study the ground plan, take site photographs and examine the sequence of building through each century in order to obtain a clear idea of how Tintern developed. Access analysis drawings will then be compiled for Tintern Abbey in order to examine how the monastery developed through time. It may also be necessary, for the sake of diversity and variation, to investigate other Cistercian examples in the south west, particularly Buckland Abbey and Forde Abbey.

Quote:
The aim of this report is to establish a clear history of development of the town of Wallingford. By looking at maps and documentary evidence, it will attempt to define the urban morphology at several phases in the town’s history. Because Wallingford was limited to the internal defences for so long, this will not concern itself with industrial and modern development unless it impacts on the known historical morphology (i.e. inside the defences and external areas into which Wallingford expanded in the 13th century) in much the same way that the paper by Airs et al (1975) concerned itself only with that area also. Neither will it concern itself with the development of the castle which has still had only very limited investigation. For those areas that fall out of use for a period, an attempt will be made to understand their land use in context of urban contraction.

The author will visit the town, examine aerial photographs and early Ordnance Survey maps, title deeds and surveys and to apply a type of Town Plan Analysis to demonstrate these changes. This will be done through the identification of specific plan unit types and to then examine the evolution of use.

An up to date collation of data on the churches and a brief hinterland study will examine how Wallingford first expanded and then contracted its influence within and without the town. There seems to be a level of criticism that the Town Plan Analysis method rarely concerns itself with territorial control. It is hoped that this study will address these issues through a wide variety of evidence. The results as a whole will be used to ascertain the extent of the importance of Wallingford to the local economy as well as its commercial rights

THAT is how a thesis/dissertation introduction should be written Kent! rofl

That's beyond a joke really, isn't it? These days I think even Year 6 pupils would be sternly corrected if they slipped into a conversational tone during an extended writing task.

And what about his word-limit? That must be 50 squandered already! grin

PhD theses are limited to 100,000 words. Did you see how long (short) his was in pages? I've just taken a quick random page or two and counted them. Looks like the average is about 250 words per page. 250*102=25,500. One quarter the recommended length of a real PhD thesis from a real university and he included that bizarre biography that was supposed to serve as an introduction to his work.

My MA dissertation was given a limit of 20,000 words. Word count when handed in was about 19,500.

John Safran travels to Utah to give Mormons a taste of their own medicine.

Amusing matt... giggle

I was wondering when you were going to get around to make an anti lds video. giggle

The truth is that guy is way off base about what missionaries actually do on thier tracking and they don't force thier way into people's homes nor do they go tracking before 10:00AM.

For all the times I went with the missionaries I did not see once any of them acting the way John Safran claims they do.
