We survived because of our adaptability to the changing climate (receding glaciers). They were better suited to the nomadic existence that the Ice Age had forced upon them and their physiology that was an advantage in the snow, was a disadvantage in temperate Europe.
Other theories include genocide and being bred out but the climate change scenario is the most likely.

The Neanderthal world including the middle east that 1oldminer insists they never visited, despite Neanderthal burials being found in Syria, Israel, Iraq and Iran.

So, to use your argument of "which god is it?" well which of these is the correct origin then?

Male bovine excrement. Shanidar - in Iraq - contains the most important NEANDERTHAL burials ever to have been found. It contains the so-called flower burial showing that they had ritual in their lives. I highlighted that in the other thread about ancestor species having ritual, but you ignored that too despite blundering in to educate us with your apparent extensive experience on the subject.
I had read that Neanderthals used burial rituals, but it is still unknown whether or not they believe in some sort of afterlife. Possibly they did,but since there is no written language to support this hypothesis wholly, it cannot be proven as yet.

I stand corrected...I give you that matt.
If neanderthals lasted as long as they did, obviously they migrated over great distances over time. But mostly they concentrated in Europe.
But why is there no fossil records of the earliest Neanderthals found anywhere in Africa? If modern man originated first in Africa then shouldn't have neanderthals have likewise?

Nothing in that article states where H. Neanderthalensis first appeared.

We will never know for certain. Ritual suggests belief in the metaphysical of some sort. It was probably basic but it is another thing that people claim is unique to humans (and explained away by "goddidit") and is not.

Well gee thanks, I like to think I have more than a passing interest in anthropology

Who ever said that the Neanderthal originated in Africa?
