LDS does have the Outer Darkness though, which I do not perspnally agree with, though most Mormons I have known cannot truly list any type of human who will go there. Infact the Telestial Kingdom of heaven is official described as thus (http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,11-1-13-58,00.html):
"These people did not receive the gospel or the testimony of Jesus either on earth or in the spirit world. They will suffer for their own sins in hell until after the Millennium, when they will be resurrected. "These are they who are liars, and sorcerers, and adulterers, and whoremongers, and whosoever loves and makes a lie." These people are as numerous as the stars in heaven and the sand on the seashore. They will be visited by the Holy Ghost but not by the Father or the Son."
I think LDS is quite silly at times but it isn't as evil and heartless as the Fundamentalist Christian (also visciously anti-Mormon). Infact, whilst I think their faith is silly, I have a soft spot for them (most I have known have been good friends) because I know that none of them think that I will go to the Outer Darkness, and instead believe that I will atleast go to the Telestial Kingdom (and if the Mormon god is real, I wouldn't reject him in the afterlife). When I am with Fundies, I just know that their minds are saying "he's going to burn in hell forever".
Plus the ultra-cute Jennette McCurdy is an obvious Mormon.
I'm glad to see the LDS message can at least resonate with people who may not necessarily believe in its validity. And it's posts like these that illustrate the importance of being accepting of others' viewpoints and lifestyles. I wish the religious and non-religious alike could have more instances of such dialogue...

I could hardly say I agree with George Carlin on many things, but he's a damn good comedian, that's for sure. His worship-the-sun bit is classic.

The only thing about the Sun is that it won't last forever. It will go into it's Supergiant stage and destroy all life on Earth. After that it will become a white dwarf drifting along carrying whatever remains of the solar system with it.
Billions of years away so the imminent "Rapture Index" types are going to be sorely disappointed. And the rest of us get to laugh at their continued idiocy.

That is the thing with any religion, many of them have good messages but they wrap it up in so much crap too. I mean, talking snakes that eat dust, bats being birds, insects with four legs, bizarre creation myths, men that can uncircumcise themselves, false claims about North American pre-history.
Oft-repeated lies from a religion that is supposed to cherish honesty deserves no respect in my mind. But hey, that is my view. I hate dishonesty.

What you ought to focus on matt... is the good news message that the vast majority of christian denominations do preach about God and His love and concern for His children rather than focus on talking bats and snakes.
It's really quite irrevelant when you actually ponder about what God has in mind for you, me and everyone instead of focusing your attention on talking snakes and 4 legged bugs.
If you spend that much time on certain passages in the bible describing those things, well it is little wonder you're going to miss the true meaning of the whole book entirely.

One thing about the future I am certain of is Jesus will return. Although I disagree vehemently about a few things that people believe will happen leading up to that day I do agree that for some people at least it won't be a happy day.
Some things may escape human justice but not divine justice. God is not only a loving God but He is a just God.
Also it has another name – The Word of God. For the Christian thinks every word of it was dictated by God. It is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies… But you notice that when the Lord God of Heaven and Earth, adored Father of Man, goes to war, there is no limit. He is totally without mercy – he, who is called the Fountain of Mercy. He slays, slays, slays! All the men, all the beasts, all the boys, all the babies; also all the women and all the girls, except those that have not been deflowered. He makes no distinction between innocent and guilty… What the insane Father required was blood and misery; he was indifferent as to who furnished it.
