ClimateGate Totally Ignored By TV News Outlets Except Fox

The Obama administration has another reason to hate Fox: it appears to be the only national television news outlet in America interested in the growing ClimateGate scandal.

Despite last Friday morning's bombshell that hacked e-mail messages from a British university suggested a conspiracy by some of the world's leading global warming alarmists -- many with direct ties to the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -- to manipulate temperature data, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and NBC through Monday evening have completely ignored the subject.

LexisNexis searches indicate that NPR appears to also be part of this news boycott.

By contrast, here are some of the stories news organizations apparently favored by the Obama adminstration have covered since ClimateGate broke:



It's not that these aren't valid news stories, but should they ALL be of greater importance than a scandal involving scientists from around the world including some employed by NASA and American colleges?

Also consider that the news divisions of ABC, CBS, and NBC broadcast many hours during the day besides their evening programs, and LexisNexis identified no ClimateGate reports in those either (through Monday).

As for CNN, it has been broadcasting for almost 100 straight hours since this story broke, and it appears the so-called "Most Respected Name In News" has yet to devote one second to this scandal.

By contrast, Fox News did at least four reports on this subject on Monday alone. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has also done multiple stories on this matter, as has BBC.com.

Yet, despite the seriousness of this issue, as well as a prominent Senator calling for hearings to investigate it, America's television news organizations appear to be actively boycotting this growing controversy.

Is this a replay of how they ignored September's ACORN scandal for many days until they were basically forced to cover what had gone viral across the Internet, talk radio, and Fox News?

What is it going to take for these so-called news outlets to begin sharing this subject with their viewers?

On a humorous related note, ABC might not be interested in ClimateGate, but it still is devoted to spreading climate fear.

On Tuesday, ABCNews.com's top story was, "Worse Than the Worst: Climate Report Says Even Most Dire Predictions Too Tame"



Well, at least ABC is consistent.

Readers are advised that of the cable news networks, only CNN produces transcriptions of all its broadcasts. With this in mind, it is possible that MSNBC has reported on ClimateGate during programs not transcribed. It is also possible that Fox News has reported on ClimateGate more frequently than addressed.

Climate change deniers would prefer to focus on issues like this because they cannot and will not tackle the science head on.

If that is the best evidence (a private e-mail conversation between a couple of climate scientists) that climate sceptics can come up with to prove their bizarre assertion that there is a conspiracy, then they are in a very dire state.

But Matt, some of this is damning to your global warming claims. It really is. Personally, i'm just pointing out how our stupid U.S. media is again ignoring a big story that even the UK has been reporting on. Our media ignored the ACORN scandal till they had to report it. The media has 11 reporters assign to rebut Palin's new book but only have 2 covering the health care debate. Bias? You make the call.

CLIMATEGATE

By now I am sure that you are well-versed on this Climategate scandal. If not, let me sum it up real quickly: Someone hacked into a climate change research unit and discovered that the scientists had been manipulating and/or hiding data in order to support their fake global warming theory.

Sound about right? I mean, you can read all of the articles and details for yourself ... but the bottom line is that these climate scientists have made a mockery out of their profession.

So ... let's see. Just what do these emails show? Well, how about plugging in false temperatures to research data in order to either show a warming where there was none, or to hide a cooling trend? Yup! It's all detailed in the emails. You can also read about plots and efforts to demean or denigrate any climate scientists who disagreed or strayed from the man-made global warming dogma. You can even find emails where the death of a global warming skeptic was celebrated and suggestions that it would be nice if someone would find another way to send some more skeptics to their eternal celestial dirt nap. Perhaps the scariest revelation to come from this scandal is the fact that peer reviews failed to keep the science honest ... that other scientists were essentially in cahoots to spread false science: global warming.

Now here's what's amazing. We now have some pretty serious evidence that these "scientists" who have been pushing this global warming horsesqueeze on us have an agenda that is only loosely connected with any desire to be truthful. There's an agenda at work here. You can draw your own conclusions, but I think the ultimate goal here is to establish some sort of international wealth seizure and redistribution program. Productive people aren't going to fall for such a scheme if it is sold to them on the basis of some illusory "fairness" or the need to care for the "less fortunate." But if you can con these people into believing that the very survival of the human species is at stake, well ... you can get them to go along with anything. Massive international tax and spend schemes? Well ... OK, if that's what we need to do to save the planet.

Question: Now that you've heard and read about these emails ... are you still a firm global warming believer? Well ... if you voted for Obama; if you still have an Obama bumper sticker on your car; if you still think that your child's government schools is doing an excellent job; if you still use phrases like "give back" and "the less fortunate"; and if you still believe that the rich don't pay their fair share in taxes ... you probably do.

The political aims of 2 or 4 or even 104 scientists is irrelevant to whether the science stands up and it is.

Andrew Wakefield with his anti-innoculation movement has moe followers than that... does that mean that the medical procedure of innoculation is worthless because of one man's campaign?

The most vociferous climate sceptics on here are you and dblboggie (despite your claims to neutrality) and neither of you have EVER tackled the climate science. When I try to pin you down on it you either a) harp on about The Great Liberal Conspiracy (TM) or b) you abandon the thread. Like creationists, climate sceptics rarely tackle the science, choosing instead to fabricate conspiracies or cherrypick bits out of papers and skew them to mean whatever they want them to mean.

So, explain the hacked e-mails then.

What is there to explain? A small group of conspiring scientists seeking to embellish their data.

If it is "issues being ignored" shall we take a look at this thread and remind ourselves how the Bush administration threated climate scientists?

Some of Jones’ e-mails openly and specifically admit to flat-out lying about raw climate data, as well as about climate data that had been collected and processed. He also encouraged a number of other prominent climate scientists to do the same, even detailing the best ways to mathematically cheat. The way these things almost always work in the real world, is that Jones is probably just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Jones was well aware that his climate center was the leading center, of only four in the world, that was entrusted with generating, maintaining, collating and disseminating raw climate data. Jones openly admits to destroying data, hiding data, cherry picking data, and dishonestly processing data, knowing that the U.N. and thousands of other scientists, organizations, and governments would be using his falsified raw data to make trends and to draw conclusions. He did this knowing that government policies in dozens of countries (at least) and the use of hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money was at stake.

As of now, we won't know which stories about the climate and about global warming are true, which stories are wild exaggerations, and which stories are complete fabrications. Until all climate scientists, and their data and models, have been investigated and cleaned up, my default position will be to assume that every climate story or global warming story that I see in the MSM is a flat out lie.
