I would if I knew they were so opposed to it and they had made as big a song and dance about it that those mormons had. I wasn't aware of any concerted effort to get people to have an opinion on this based purely on their skin colour.

It has nothing to with the color of thier skin. I simply stated that more than just mormons have supported the petition. The black comunity and thier churches also raised concerns for legalizing gay/lesbian marriages.

Quote:

Were they opposing it on the basis that they are black? That doesn't make any sense, insisting that their duty as a black person is to vote against gay marriage. Pretty stupid too to insist that all black people are obliged to share the same opinion on certain subjects.

Again it has nothing to do with black, white or polka dot. Why are you twisting my words into a race issue? It has nothing to do with race it has everything to do with concerns of thier sacred institutions and beliefs being forced to condone the legalization of marrying homosexuals.

You did not answer the reaction or rather, non-reaction of the gay movement toward the result of the majority of african-americans voting for Prop8.

Quote:

No... you are twisting my words again. You claimed that the institution of marriage is a preventive measure against all sorts of diseases and psychological disorders. A piece of paper cannot prevent a man with AIDS from giving it to his wife which is what you were implying.

No it is you who twisting my comments.I SAID that sexual relations between a husband and a wife...Within the confines of marraige, love and fidelity...are the best preventive measures against sexual related diseases from a result of extramaritial sexual relationships be it multiple partners/infidelity/fornication etc...etc.Such sexual practices carry a much higher risk of contracting diseases than a magnominous one.

Jedi Knight here!

Kyle Katarn is my favorite Jedi, btw. He tends to really struggle with the Dark Side but ends up a powerful user of the Light Side.

But there was a concerted effort to get mormons and other religious groups to vote for prop 8, that was my point. Religious groups are organising to support things like this, ergo why would I criticise black people for supporting it when it is the actions of individuals, not a concerted effort to get all black people to vote this way. If The Black Panthers had done this "all black people must vote on this issue and vote the way we want" then I would criticise them too. You're kind of losing the point.

You made it a race issue by asking why I wasn't criticising black people who supported proposition 8. YOU made it sound as though there was a concerted effort to get black Americans to vote a certain way. Point is, they were not voting that way because they are black but religious groups voted that way because of their religion.

Because as we just ascertained, skin colour is irrelevant. It would only have been relevant if there was a concerted effort to politicse black people to vote a certain way. There wasn't so why are you arguing?

Are you so dense that you cannot tell the difference?

Well it isn't. A married man can still pass AIDS to his wife and a CONDOM, not a piece of paper that says they are married, is the best preventive measure against such a transmission. Once again, basic biology still proves elusive to you.

"Fornication" and infidelity are not the only methods by which a human can acquire AIDS. What about a man who was raped by another man? What about a man who contracts it through blood transfusion? Or who was born with it? A marriage certificate will not prevent AIDS transmission but a condom will.

I'm not going to bother with on this subject any more. It is not relevant to the thread.

This latter quote is really convenient in context of the former.

Yeah, hair starting to fall, colon not so good, fondly acquainted with early FPSs.

I take it that you have downloaded it from Steam. It is playable again! Gotta love the original Dark Forces.

The Lovecraft Mythos. By my reckoning, it's as valid a religion as any discussed in this thread so far. I think Cthulhu himself would probably be my deity of choice, but I like Azathoth as well.
