Mediafire has gotten better! No reason to use Rapidshare

Check it out: http://www.mediafire.comThe interface is even better than it was before. And here are the features for FREE users: - Unlimited Uploads
- Unlimited Downloads
- Unlimited Storage
- No Speed Limits
- Download Resuming
- No Sign Up Required
- RSS File Feeds
I highly recommend this file host. There really is no reason to use Rapidshare when you can get the same features, with a better interface, and unlimited uploads and downloads, for FREE, on another file host. I'm going to use Mediafire for all future uploads.

I'm glad you also use Megaupload links in your blog. They're another host that is better than Rapidshare. There is no reason why anyone should have to pay for file hosting with all of the options that are available.

You don't have to pay to use Rapidshare either I don't particularily like RS either, but I don't think that one hoster has a significant advantage over the other.

looks like they also kicked up their filesize limit up from 100mb to 200mb per file. And the files will stay on the host for as long as you log into your account. Free users can also sort their files into folders, and upload many files at once using the flash based interface. And these features are completely FREE. There really is no reason to use Rapidshare when you can get the same features, with a better interface, with unlimited uploads and downloads for FREE on another file host.
I'm going to use Mediafire for all future uploads. Click. I saw that thread. This thread isn't entirely about Rapidshare sucking though. It's more about how much Mediafire rocks.

Mediafire and Megaupload are fine by me. Little wait time and great download speed. With Rapidshare you have to wait longer, even after downloading a small video, and the icing on the cake is putting up with this bullshit repeatedly on the weekends:
"There are no more download slots available for free users right now. If you don't want to become a premium member, you might want to try again later."

I never had this problem with RS more an two times in a row, but your're right: RS for very small files is a pain in the ass, but for larger files I prefer RS over the others hosters. You'll have to wait longer between files, but the dl is more likely to suceed while my MU downloads regularily break down.

I guess it also depends where you live. Some people regularly have problems with MU but I rarely do.

when i see all this members who snivel, i want to stop using megaupload to use only rapidshare I'm not just another sniveling member. I'm also a video poster: http://pantsuplanet.blogspot.comThe reason why I speak positively about mediafire is because I genuinely feel that it's a better service for both downloaders and uploaders, and I can't understand why anyone would want to use a service that charges for things that you could get for free elsewhere. I'm only looking out for the community, and trying to help you, and others, save a little money by letting you know about your options. For free, mediafire allows uploaders to upload as much as they want to, and your files will stay online for as long as you log into your account. I'm a big fan of your work, by the way. You make some of the best celebrity clips on the Internet.

The number of times that users have uploaded those huge 6 part HD rips and put the .rar files on RS... I just don't bother. I can't pay for what MU or MF do for free...

nah, mediafire still blows for me, max of 200kb/s on a 20mb connection. You guys are so spoiled. lol. I remember when there was no internet, and it took about 15 minutes just to send a picture. For a completely free service, with unlimited downloads, unlimited uploads, and no waiting times, 200kb/s is fine. But personally, I've never mediafire go that slow. Rapidshare maxes my connection 95% of the time, and MU maxes it about 80% Megaupload is great. I love how it creates video previews. Here's an example: http://pantsuplanet.blogspot.com/2009/04/oona-chaplin-from-quantum-of-solace.htmlThe feature is kind of ad heavy though.

I gave mediafire a go today. I wanted to upload 2 files. First one went ok (although the 2 hour upload time is a bit suspect) but the second file will not upload after 2 attempts. Rapidshare has NEVER failed to upload a file for me..

Rapidshare has NEVER failed to upload a file for me.. Yeah, I've been using mediafire for about a month or so now. Uploading small files go pretty quickly. But if you are trying to upload big files it becomes trial and error. Especially if you try to upload upwards of six or more individual files at once. They have a premium membership which I am sure alleviates all those issues. They have to try and make money some way outside of the ads.

Rapidshare has NEVER failed to upload a file for me.. That used to happen to me, but not anymore. I think it depends on your location, and the servers attached to that location. If mediafire doesn't work for you, megaupload is the next best option.

I have tried all hosts suggested by the original poster and so far RS is the most reliable for both up- and downloads

I'm just trying to download from Mediafire. At first the download started. But very slow. About half an hour later I lost my internet connection and the download stopped at 6,92 MB. Now I'm back online and try to download it again: Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - Processing download request... - Click here to start download... - click - Your download is starting... - waiting a few seconds - and so on, and so on.
