So it doesn't matter that there are many failed prophecies, so long as you can make one or two fit actual events that actually occurred, no matter how tentative the link? And somehow, these tentative predictions prove the source? Even a stopped clock shows the correct time twice a day.

Oh it makes sense to me, it makes perfect sense and that is why I think it is nonsense.
The common ideas that non-believers "don't get it" is a common one and quite false. More often than not we do get it and getting it is the very reason for our rejection of it.

Indeed. I think that most non-believers understand the Bible better than most believers. I do not believe in the Bible because I find it both absurd and cruel.
