You tend to be very hostile toward educated people and obviously Theology doesn't escape your derision either. I was merely asking why you tend to view education as a bad thing.

Is it jealousy or something a little more conceited?

Wes is quite well eduacated matt, though he may not delved into archealogy as you did.

It is always in our best interests and benifet to aquire as much education as possible, to better ourselves financially and gain knowledge.

But education alone, will not help us gain spiritual acess to the scrptures and its teachings, for they are meant for us and our times as it did when it was first written.

But for you to really understand them, you'll need to open your mind and heart and become teachable,(yes, that "T" word matt) otherwise, you'll never gain anything out of them.

That what Wes meant in his reference to many theologians, they may have studied biblical writing for years but lacked true understanding because they never gained a deeper, personal revelation/understanding for themselves.

I am perfectly teachable. When you use the word you are twisting it. You actually mean "gullible" in that you expect people to suspend their disbelief to accept nonsense and for that nonsense to be protected from any kind of criticism or evaluation.

Education is not about sitting there blindly accepting what teachers are telling you but challenging it and allowing it to be challenged. Evaluate all of the evidence and then make your mind up. This is a scientific mind.

If you were teachable, 1oldminer, you wouldn't be bleating creationist propaganda and would accept the startlingly obvious evidence for evolution. You would also read the evidence that is put before you.

As it is you choose to express your piety by denying the obvious and worshipping the bible. Idolatry is supposed to be a sin 1oldminer, isn't it?

So education should be about the financial incentives? Perhaps I am a little more idealistic than you but in my mind we are here for only a short period and we should spend it learning as much as we can about our world. Nothing should be ring-fenced as off limits to learn about.

I'm sorry the same cannot be said for you.

Matt, do you remember the college literacy survey results I've posted a few times now? Just because someone completes a four-year basket weaving degree doesn't mean they're wise.

And just because somebody makes a good accountant doesn't mean they have research skills or the ability to critically analyse data.

I have never weaved any baskets personally. Experimental archaeology not really my thing, if it was I would have been more inclined to attempt forging of metal objects or knap flint.
