When I try to make a screengab using MPC (File > Save Image) I get an error message saying:

GetCurrentImage, hr = 8004022e

I'm trying to cap a full HD video, even though my monitor can't display the video properly when playing. I assume this is what the error is related to. I was able to make one screen grab before encountering this message.

A quick Google search doesn't give me any answers.

Has anybody encountered this problem before? If so, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks.

Go into the options > playback > output and change to Haali's Video Renderer (best one imo). Should solve your problem.

*Note

If your making a thumbnail Haali's Video Renderer will give wrong resolution info so use vmr7 or 9.

Haali's Video Renderer has best colors so I use it for single caps.

Thanks for the reply.

I can't select Haali's Video Renderer from the list. It's there but greyed out. Do I need a more up to date version of MPC?

Nope, you probably need to setup the options to use Haali Media Splitter so it becomes available.

Just goto options > external filters > add filter and choose haali media splitter, then set it to prefer like in my screenshot.

If it's not in your list of filters you can get it free from here.

It wasn't in my list of filters so I had to grab it from the download link.

Just tested it now as per your guide and it seems to have solved the problem.

I'll get back to you later when I'm able to spend some more time with it.

Thank you for the help, very much appreciated. thanks

It seems the problem hasn't gone away completely. Sometimes it lets me save the screengrab, other times it doesn't Saying that, I think I've now worked out why I get that error.

A couple of options that may work:

• delete mplayerc.ini

Check rendering options like the following:
• mediaplayer->view->options->Playback->output->DirectShow Video->check VMR9 renderless
• mediaplayer->view->options->Playback->output->DirectShow Video->System Default
--- Click OK to save settings, close Media player, reopen, and try again.

• Try a newer version (With more built-in codecs, as based on FFmpeg): http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/download-media-player-classic-hc.html
That has a newish build (The original "Media Player Classic" is fairly old, and also apparently has some... potential issues. Media Player Classic Homecinema is updated to clear those issues, as well as adding in other options).
If you want something that's even MORE current, you can check here: http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/category/1/1/2/
