Not to mention the fact that few towns or cities even had any churches.

People choos to ignore that part and concentrate on the fact that the founding fathers were Christians which somehow gives them the right to place Christianity over all the other religions in this country.

I'm just curious.... how do Christians try to place Christianity over other religions in this country?

Remember, i'm not religious either.

Well, I recall the Republican from Georgia that was an advocate for putting the 10 Commandments in schools, and when asked to name the 10 Commandments, he couldn't name a single one.

Just compare it to the historically non-Christian countries of the world. There's a reason why tens of millions of people scrambled to emigrate here immediately after the immigration laws were changed in the sixties.

You are completely delusional if you believe Christianity wasn't the dominant cultural force in America from the beginning.

The majority of the Founding Fathers were deists. Now, deism is a bit tricky. Some deists could be considered Christians, although not in the traditional sense. For example, they usually didn't believe in such superstitions as miracles, prophecies, or the Trinity. Some (notably Thomas Jefferson) rejected the idea of Jesus's divinity. And some rejected Christianity altogether as outright superstition.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;
