I don't believe they are. You have to remember the bible was written thousands of years ago during times where some of the "questionable" content was very acceptable.
I am a pretty devout Catholic (well as much as I can be considering I smoke, drink, and have/had a drug problem), but I don't believe God came down from heaven and told Mathew, Mark, Luke or John what to write in their gospels. These were God fearing but ignorant people who put down what they believed God wanted them to, the problem is what was acceptable 2 thousand years ago now seems like an abomination. A lot of the stories in the bible may end in death etc but the underlying themes are basically about how to lead a good life. Why are the two great books of Islam and Judaism not attacked the way the bible is?

In the case of the Koran or Qu'ran as some refer it to, people who are atheist or agnostic, especially the liberal leaning side are quite reluctant to criticize (let alone openly bash it) for fear of backlash. Christians and Jews tend to be less offended than muslums when thier sacred books are attacked. That is a fact not a bigoted statement.
I for one don't believe one should never bad mouth another one's faith, even if we don't believe in the same doctrine.
