Latest updates brings us to the two reasons I got into Hollyoaks and without whom this project might not be here Lesley Johnston & Lisa Kay. Lesley Johnston was the winner of the original Hollyoaks on the pull competition playing the part of phsyco Laura Burns between 2001-2002. Laura spent most of her time obsessing over Mandy before trying to kill both of them n New Years day but what she's best remembered for is repeatedly sticking her tongue down Sarah Jayne Dunn's throat. Lesley quit the show because of crazy fans who couldn't distinguish her from her character and now works as a midwife. Lisa Kay joined the cast in 1999 as sexy geeky student Anna Green and for most of that time was the shows only brunette until the arrival of Jodi Albert in late 2002. Anna was determined to breakout from her geeky school days indulging in wild drunken partying, bed hopping and her memorable attempt to convince Tony to lower her rent. Sadly Anna's wild partying ways were brought to an end when she got struck down with the dreaded single soap mum syndrome leading to an unflattering wardrobe and a lot of crying, nagging and her eventual decision to leave in early 2003.
The latest installment of the A-Z brings us to Loui 'Legs' Batley the girl best known for short skirts and shorter shorts. Loui joined the the show in 2005 as olympic hopeful swimmer Sarah Barnes, a genious plot device that saw her spend her early month parading around in a bathing suit. Sadly Loui shattered the illusion for hoards of men by revealing she couldn't swim and the majority of the pool scenes as well as the bathing suit butt scenes she was best known for were in fact a body double. (They say Steve Jones' screams of agony can till be heard echoing in the Hollyoaks juice bar to this day) Not wanting to fork out the cost of two Sarah's a story was developed to end her swimming career and she voed never to set foot in a pool again which she hasn't not wanting to loose the opertunities to get Loui's kit off the writers came up with an equally great plot of having her launch a career as a glamour model.
Three girls today plus a load of extras. First up is Hollyoaks original yummy mummy (slightly out of place alphabetically) Helen Pearson. Helen joined the show in 2002 as Frankie Dean mother to Steph (Carley Stenson) & Debbie (Jodi Albert) and clearly had a big impact on her daughters fashion sense. Next we have Louise Howells star of the first failed spinoff and the only reaso to really waste any time with it. Louise is best remembered as the only Hollyoaks girl to ever appear topless. Lastly Lucy Evans. Lucy only appeared for two weeks back in 2004 as the younger sister of Tiffany Mulheron bringing the potential to take on Jodi Albert & Carley Stenson as Hollyoaks sexiest sisters having now been axed from Corrie maybe she can find her way back to Hollyoaks where her "talents" can be put to better use.
Good news everyone, following a successful recovery of the data on my archive hard drive I'm back in business so for those of you who feared I'd abandoned this project at L you can stop worrying.
Going back a bit to the K's I bring you new girl Kari Corbett. In the past Kari has had roles in kids TV series Jeopardy, River City, Monarch Of The Glen, Doctors, Dis-Connected and The Royal now she's playing mysterious Scot Caroline Cooper in Hollyoaks. Originally planned as a short term guest star she's now been elevated to a regular.
Today i bring you three more of Hollyoaks finest. First up is Natalie Casey. While most Hollyoaks girls are only remembered as 'That bird off of Hollyoaks' Natalie is something of an unusual case since most people don't remember her playing Carol Groves, one of the MANY conquests of Tony Hutchinson, from 1995 until 2000. Instead she is better known as Donna on BBC Three's Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps. Next up is Natasha Symms who played Kate Patrick the wicked step-sister of Ruth Osborne and one of the early brunettes from 1997-2000. Lastly we have Nathalie Emmanuel who joined the cast in 2006 as Sascha Valentine the good girl turned junkie/prostitute yet somehow she sadly manages to keep her clothes on taking almost a year to first whip her top of and in a possible record for a Hollyoaks girl has gone nearly two year without doing any glamour shoots.
Next up on the A-Z of Hollyoaks hotness is the winner of the second Hollyoaks on the pull contest an the countries official sexiest soap babe, Roxanne McKee. Roxanne’s arrival in 2005 marked a turning point for Hollyoaks, as well as setting the new standard for stripping off (halfway through her first show, 15 seconds into her second and halfway through her third) it marked the end of the reign of blondes and the rise of the brunette as well as the shows ratings and the number of awards its won, with Roxanne herself picking up countless sexiest soap star titles.
Getting close to the finish line now. Today we have four girls plus a load of extras. First up is emo-goth Lauren Valentine played by Dominique Jackson. Due to her yung age and the whole goth thing her potential for stripping off is minute but then there’s always the 2010 calendar. Next up is the latest in the line of yummy mummies Samantha Giles. She staggered into Hollyoaks last Christmas as drunken, wild, partying, man hungry Val Holden but hasn’t followed the example of predecessors Andree Bernard & Helen Pearson and has toned herself down. Third up we have one of the biggest disasters to hit Hollyoaks in the last three years, (the other being Holly Jay Bowes) Samantha Rowley. She was brought into to originally play the part of Clare Devine but after just three months of sucking was given the boot and replaced with the superior in ever capacity Gemma Bissix she can still occasionally be seen in the pages of the lower quality lads mags. Finally we have Sarah Baxendale who played Ellie Hunter/mills between 2002-2005. Ellie was known as the village bike as sooner or later everyone would take a ride (although Mandy slept with a LOT more men) she eventually married Toby a man who in his spare time liked to beat blondes over the head with a wrench. After blaming her brother for the murder of her husband she became known as the village pariah and left.
It’s the moment many of you have been waiting for, the original Hollyoaks babe, Sarah Jayne Dunn. Sarah joined the show way back at the beginning as sexually abused teenager Mandy Richardson. Since then we’ve watched her grow up, sleep with half the villages male population, stick her tongue down Lesley Johnston’s throat and parade around in short skirts and skimpy lingerie in the time honored Hollyoaks tradition. Sarah left the show in 2006 after 10 years returning briefly in 2007 before starting her own drama workshop and staring in the second batman movie and is now back where she belongs on Hollyoaks although severely overdressed.
Five more to go but first we have to get through Sarah Lawrence. Sarah joined the show in 2003 from Grange Hill as Darlene Taylor 1/3 of the worst Hollyoaks family ever as voted for by the Hollyoaks viewers in 2007. Despite her obvious appeal to many male viewers the character was hugely unpopular and most of her major storyline were geared towards making her disappear for extended periods of time while her minor storylines were used to flaunt her massive cleavage. She left the show in early 2006 after falling pregnant an hasn’t been heard from since.
