It's a good question, and as it happens it's not the first time I hear it. There are a few reasons why I do that and they have nothing to do with not appreciating the work of cappers.
First the names are too long and I don't like that. Me, and I guess I'm a minority, I don't need the capper's name to know if a clip is good quality or not; I know when a clip is good because I'm quality addicted and generally my knowledge allows me to differentiate between good quality and crap quality (read AVIs, YouTube and the likes). I compare, I download everything, I choose whatever version I deem to be more complete and of better quality.
Second, I have a very strong aversion for the naming system used online which by far and large is a mess. I_don't_run_Linux_at_home therefore I_hate_using_underscores_for_everything. To top it all off there's no structure, everybody uses whatever scheme they like. I use mine because a unified structure is what allows me to index my hundreds of GB (TB?) of clips in a database and run them accordingly, which is kind of far from the average user that cannot care less and takes files with whatever name they come.
All in all my collection is build during years, so I cannot keep original filenames (which are poor anyway), and once I went that path I now have a process in place that automatically renames/strips/consolidate names (regular expressions are fun) across the board for whatever clips I deal with.
It has nothing to do with a lack of respect towards cappers' work, which actually I appreciate greatly. It has to do with structure, order and good use of a respectable sized collection. So when I UL something from my collection it just comes the way I have them for my private use.
Anyway, if you are so kind as to bring your caps to other places (as you just did) this will be a non-issue .
