Natalie Blair- plays Carmella Cammeniti, youngest figlia of dementedly protective local mafioso Rocco. The product of a spoilt and sheltered upbringing, Bambina Brown Eyes finally tasted life in the raw when she took up a job in Lou's coffee shop and implausibly fell under the charms of pasty-faced Irish wastrel Connor. One unfortunate incident in a sauna later and Carmella was ushered out of Ramsey Street and off to a finishing school back in Italy. Returning several months later, she had successfully learned the skills of all proper young ladies; flirting, teasing, bitching; shotgun handling and the intricacies of black market baby peddling. An ensuing psychological breakdown triggered by latent catholic remorse forced Carmella into convent life as the world's most unlikely nun. It took a good few months for her to 'kick the habit' during which time sweaty adolescents everywhere wondered if they would be going to hell for their impure thoughts.
Plus bonus topless frolic scene from Voodoo Lagoon...

Krista Vendy- played Teresa 'Tess' Bell, a neurotic black cloud of a school teacher; obsessively dating every drunken, scheming, violent bum within a 50km radius and then compulsively blaming herself for their problems. A paragon of self loathing, she entered the street as a bloodied victim of domestic abuse (at the hand of barbarous Brendan) and departed the scene three years later on the eve of an aborted wedding (to duplicitous Darcey). Seemingly unable to recognize any beauty within herself, there was nevertheless a string of pubescent students who miraculously found something to admire in Ms Bell's tumbling golden locks, statuesque frame and heaving bosom.

Natalie Imbruglia- played 16 year-old bambi-eyed country bumpkin Beth Brennan, who ran away from home with her brother David after being sexually abused by her mother's (Bunny) new boyfriend. Pitching up in Surfers Paradise, she was soon discovered by eventual husband Brad, who persuaded her to lodge with his family in Ramsey Street. To pay her way, Beth improbably became an apprentice builder but found the male orientated work place and the numerous sexist comments an affront to her gender. Naturally, she switched jobs to become a scantily clad, sexually provocative chambermaid instead. It was during this time that Beth embarked on a series of bewildering romances with increasingly older suitors, including both Rod Baker and Philip Martin, presumedly an attempt to replace her absent father or confront unresolved issues linked to her traumatic past. Eventually, the script-writers gave up and let Beth and Brad marry into a blissful future, although not before wrecking their first wedding attempt with a contrived plot involving harlot Lauren Carpenter.

Marisa Warrington played Sindi Watts- the first Ramsey Street inhabitant to achieve official certification for insanity. Sindi walked amongst the unsuspecting Erinsborough crowd for four years; her faulty wiring- which manifest itself in paranoid delusions, violent outbursts, sadistic use of butter, uncontrollable jealousy, bouts of animal cruelty (alas poor Yorick) and a strange compunction to push people down stairs- seemingly failing to raise eyebrows as behaviour out of the ordinary. When she was finally admitted to the local psychiatric ward, husband Stuart- literally rendered blind to his wife's actions following a house fire- vowed to stick by his little fruit loop. Sindi instead headed off to the Dorton Clinic in New South Wales from where she promised (or threatened) to return when she recovered. We are still waiting.
Promotional stills for the band Lucy DeVille, where Marisa performs alongside fellow Neighbours star Marcella Russo (Liljana Bishop).

Sarah Vandenbergh played Lauren Carpenter- equine obsessed youngest daughter of Lou and Kathy Carpenter. After years living away from her divorced father, nubile Lauren rode into Erinsborough one morning; her muscular thighs wrapped around beloved horse Chucka Mental, the one true love in her life to whom all other men failed to measure up. She was only in the Street for a year, in which time she conducted an on/off illicit affair with surfer Brad, wrecked one wedding, almost broke her back in a riding accident, flirted with alcoholism and became inducted into the Children of Barabbas, a sexually depraved religious cult run by the evil Jacob and Ruth. Lauren eventually escaped and moved back to Queensland; where she opened her own riding school and presumedly spent her days bouncing up and down on Chucka to her heart's content.

Dichen Lachman played Katya Kinski- troubled elder sibling to Rachel and Zeke, who ran away at sixteen only to turn up five years later working at the Stanning Rehabilitation Clinic under an assumed name. The missing years had apparently been spent offering 'exotic favours' to lonely gentlemen as a way of feeding a rampaging drug addiction, although the easily shocked British teatime audience was told only that Katya had done some "regrettable things". Just how regrettable would become clear several months later when aspects of her past returned to haunt her. An eventful two year stay in Erinsborough that took in a dalliance with a pair of psychotic twins, several doomed romances, a buddhist reawakening, car theft, attempted murder, a fugitive run and one short-lived coma finally ended when Katya left to make a new life for herself in Adelaide.
