We had also done some campaigns that involved travelling between universes and I was the best "military" thinker in our group. Multiverse was a term from Sci-Fi and even quantum physics long before 'Rifters' was published. My group eventually settled on GURPS. Made it easy cram a mish-mash of stuff from all kinds of genres in to one game.
