Skyline.
Preface: I love disaster and invasion movies.
RT's consensus of this movie: A middling sci-fi entry, Skyline offers proof that solid special effects alone cannot overcome a flat storyline filled with uninspired dialogue.
all true. All so so true. But. I enjoyed it for what it was. I wasn't expecting much and I didn't get much but I was entertained.
I was entertained because I liked the main character because the actor is cool IMO and his name was Jared() and I wanted to know what was going to happen... and... it... was..lame. It did give us something new though.. an alien invasion that we do not win.
The aliens were pretty lame. Some looked like flying jelly fish, some looked like rock monsters, some looked like the searcher aliens from war of the worlds. Pretty blah design but I did like their glowing blue light.
The characters were all pretty lame and there was some sub plot type shit going on that made no difference to the story and seemed to be thrown into the movie to build the characters ever so slightly before watching them die. Regardless the viewer isn't going to care if they die or not.
The special effects were pretty nice and all the blue was nice.
Most of the film takes place in and on one building...so.. not a very big scope. I think all the money went into the effects, they didn't give a god damn about the script or writing any decent dialogue for the cast that is much better than what they gave them to work with.
Was I entertained?
Was the movie good?
Would I watch it again? Maybe.
If you like invasion movies.. you'll be entertained probably. If not you can skip it like a rock.
