I wanted to finish the book before watching this, and it's nice to finally see the characters and location that you portrayed, on screen.
They did a mighty fine job on that aspect, but especially with the characters! My highlights are:
- Haymitch: quite a character, and I must say, Woody Harrelson played that part BRILLIANTLY! Exactly how I pictured him.
- Peeta Mellark: Played by Josh Hutcherson, who really gave justice to this character.
- Ceasar played by Stanley Tucci.
The girl who played Prim has a bright future ahead of her. Loved the emotion she had everytime she was on screen. I could name everyone out there basically, they all did a superb work!
As for the story... yes, there were important details from the book that were left out. It would have made some parts more emotional, but as others said, there is so much you can do in 2h30 of screen time.
The only bad review I would have would be the way they handled some of the scenes, camera wise. Some were too shaky, while others were filmed too close. Still, it's a minor detail to the overall movie experience.
