Actually, several years ago the Red Sox had a pitcher named Greg Harris who was ambidextrous. He wanted to pitch with both hands, but the GM of the Sox thought that it would be a joke and wouldn't allow it. When he went to the Expos, either in the last game of his career (or maybe next to last), he was allowed to pitch left-handed to a couple of batters, making him the only pitcher in the modern era to do so.
Venditte was drafted in the 20th round, so I would think the idea that he could do this in the major leagues is probably pretty small.
