The problem is that their best players are injured (Ferguson and Cuellar spring to mind) and they have made some bad signings over the summer ( Kenny Miller + Kyle Lafferty). Lafferty has potential and is a Northern Ireland regular now but he isn't ready yet to be playing at a club with huge expectations such as Rangers. Walter Smith also didn't sign Steven Davis even though he was outstanding when on loan from Fulham last season (the CL money was supposedly going to be used to sign him)
They blew the league last season because they were concentrating on the Uefa Cup final but they don't have any distractions this year so they should win the league. They started the season off with a win anyway

see these new owners don't get it.
You can't just buy a team and expect long term success.
Look at Man U, Fergie doesn't go out and buy 4 top players and make them fit. HE finds players that are young and fits them in.
On the rare occasion that he buys big names, it's one or maybe two. And see how many Cups that man has.
Go back further, Liverpool, (granted there wasn't the money at the time, but, did Shankley, Fagan and Dalglish do the same as Fergie? yes.
I can't wait for Man Shity to fall apart.
