half the time when i dl a rar file and extract it i get a CRC error, what's that? why does it happen? how do i fix it?

have you tried opening them with 7zip instead of winrar?
It may just work,but a bit of a long shot.
CRC or cyclic redundancy check error is a bit of mathematics that makes sure the file stays intatct during network transit
It simply means the file has become corrupt (somehow)
unfortunatley there isnt much you can do about this except for
1. re-downloading the file and trying again
2. try 7zip to extract instead of winrar
3.try using a program like advanced zip repeairer or winzip fudge to fix the file
4.open the rar file with Winrar and highlight all the files in the archive,now right click and select "repair archive".
long shot but it may work!
