Do you actually go to the ballpark? Most people nowdays get their baseball experience from tv. Instant replay may be good for tv, but it's bad for "the game." It takes away from the umps' authority on the field. It makes the umps weaker because the manager can always go to the replay to prove his point. I like seeing the mgr and ump argue the call, and the ump winning. I won't like seeing the ump lose those arguments. (I didn't like seeing night ball at Wrigley, either!)

Again, foolish argument. Umps lose just as much, more in fact, stature when they are proven wrong 2 hours later on every sports TV and radio show in the country. In this case they take the same amount of time that's already spent whining about something no one can decide without replay to just look at the replay and get it right.
Also, how would it take away from an umps authority anyways? How are you less authorized to call the infield fly rule or whatever just because your home run calls are slightly more accurate?

ARod hit #549 today, passing Schmidt on the all-time HR list. I post this here because his HR was a high shot down the left field line (just at the upper tip of the foul pole), was originally called a home run, Rays manager Maddon went out to complain about the call, and the umps reviewed it. Sportscenter said from the time ARod touched home plate to when the umps finished the review and called it an officially reviewed HR took about 3 and a half minutes.
