Tiger's four off the pace but mentioned soreness. Maybe a bit of gamesmanship? Give everyone a glimmer of hope then snuff it out down the backstretch? Or lowering expectations?
He'd still be a major threat with one leg and wearing boxing gloves.

The fact that he is within reach and hasn't played in 6 weeks is something the other golfers should be leery of.

Phil is falling back a little. I don't understand his decision not to carry a driver yesterday. I know at times I use my 3 wood off the tee but to only use that on every hole was a little puzzling

Mitch Albom called Mickelson a "media creation" and I tend to agree with that. Everyone wants to have that one person that can give Tiger the competition and everyone was so behind Mickelson but he just isn't at that level

Mickelson is a Hall Of Fame player. He still has time to get on the short list. To me the short list is players who will be known forever as the best of all-time. Guys with maybe 8 majors or more and a bunch of wins. I think that's why someone like Norman is a grumpass now. He had a great career but will not go down as one of the best. Be on the short list for the rest of mankind. Phil can still do that.
Phil has been put down in the past for hitting his driver to much. Now he was being put down for not using it. Which to me is accurate. Tiger used his driver like once when winning the British at Hoylake. But that was sound strategy because he was trying to avoid the hundreds of fairway sand traps. Phil claimed he pulled the driver out for the first couple rounds this week because he was hitting it through the doglegs in practice. Come on now Phil. It was because you just didn't want to hit it. This course demands you hit driver a few times. I haven't seen Tiger hit through any of the doglegs.
Phil sometimes overthinks.

An extra day of Golf 
This should be great
It is hard to root against Rocco, since he has never won a Major. I wish it was someone who I actually didn't care for but I will be happy for both men, whomever wins

The U.S. Open needs to get rid of this stupid format where the winner has to be decided by an 18 hole round. Move to the 4 hole playoff like others have.
With so many new fans watching golf for the first time because of the primetime coiverage, it's a big negative to not have the champion decided today.
I guess there will be lots of DVR action tomorrow and no paying attention to sportscasts.

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of golf.But....tonight I tuned in because Tiger was down a stroke with 3 holes to go and there was nothing else on so I watched.I get into it right...the best player in the world chasing a guy I never heard of.Then comes 18.Tiger I know needs to shoot a 4 instead of 5 to tie.I watch sportscenter so I know a little.Im really into it now....he gets close to the hole and he has to putt to force a playoff, which at the time I dont really understand what that is, and I am saying to myself that there is no way he hits this.Well you all know I was wrong.Amazing shot under pressure.Now I am thinkin,ok, is there gonna be overtime now? They will play a few more holes to decide right? NOPE...they will play tomorrow when like a majority of the world i will be working.BOO for golf...they had me on the hook and they lost me with this nonsense.I equate this to the Superbowl in the 4th quater of a tie game saying lets come back tomorrow and play 15 more minutes to decide a winner.Like I said Im not a golf fan so maybe I am viewing this wrong but thats my honest opinion

Great, after a full day of listening to nothing but every announcer's man love for Tiger Woods, I get to spend another full day listening to the same thing. He's great, nobody can discount that, but people need to reel it in a little.
All this nonsense with Tiger's knee is pretty disgusting to listen to. It looked pretty good to me when he was celebrating on 18 today. Johnny Miller comparing him to a hockey or football player did nothing but make Johnny look like an idiot. I mean, c'mon, he's GOLFING!
