Since I downloaded the Service Pack 3 update yesterday Internet Explorer freezes up regularly when I rarely had a problem before…

I was reading an article about problems with SP3. I didn't really read it since it didn't pertain to me, but you're most definitely not alone with your problems with it.

I have Windows Auto Update set to 'notify but don't download'. I haven't received a notification for SP3 yet.
Plus, I never use IE. Firefox only.

Why bother with SP3,its pretty much just all the critical updates for SP2.
In my opinion its never worth getting a new service pack as soon as it comes out,always leave it a few weeks and then seee if loads of people start posting threads like this one

What version of IE?
BTW, if you're running IE 7 and then install XP SP 3, uninstalling IE is no longer an option.

I just downloaded and reinstalled IE7 (alone) and so far no more freezing - fingers crossed.
Edit: Nope, it still freezes up.

Windows wouldn't load for me after I downloaded it. I had to System Restore just to get my computer working.

the only problem I have run into (on a clean install), is that when I click on any .mpg video file, it causes a DEP (data execute prevention) error and closes explorer.exe.
I have solved it by turning off DEP

I also had problem with Windows XP SP3 and decided to remove it and reverted back to XP2 as l always received notification that windows had a problem and needed to close. I found out that a security patch was used to gather information and feedback to Microsoft all relevant information of my movements. I have since put in 2 browsers 1 Safari and 1 Flock using Firefox 2 and rarely use IE6 anymore. Has anyone else had same type of experiences?
